Description
The Leupold Mark 5HD 7-35×56 Tremor 3 in Flat Dark Earth is item 185074. It pairs the highest magnification Leupold builds in this line with the densest reticle they publish, and it is a specialist tool rather than a general-purpose scope.
What the Leupold Mark 5HD 7-35×56 Tremor 3 is built to do
Thirty-five power behind a 56 mm objective is for reading mirage, spotting your own impacts and refining a hold on something small. Below 400 yards it is more magnification than the shot needs and the field of view will work against you.
Field of view is 14.7 feet at 7x and 3 feet at 35x, per 100 yards. Those are the narrowest figures in our entire Leupold range. You find the target with something else and then look at it through this.
Tremor 3 is a dense grid with wind dots, ranging brackets and a full holdover tree. Being first focal plane, every one of those references is true at every magnification, which is the only arrangement in which a grid reticle makes sense.
Turrets, travel and parallax
Elevation is the M5C3: locking, with a revolution indicator and a set screw rezero. Windage is capped. Clicks are 0.1 MIL on both axes, matching the mil-based reticle.
Total elevation travel is 29 MIL, or 100 MOA, at 10.5 MIL per revolution with a 30 MIL dial travel limit. Parallax is published with a 50 yard minimum.
No BDC dial is included and the scope is not Custom Dial System compatible, though the turret is published as custom BDC dial compatible. There is no illumination and no battery in the Leupold Mark 5HD 7-35×56 Tremor 3.
A windage figure that does not add up
The manufacturer publishes total windage travel for this scope as 50 MOA, 17 MIL and 175 cm at 100 metres, all in the same row. Seventeen mils is about 60 MOA, not 50, and 175 cm at 100 metres is 17.5 mils, so the MIL and centimetre figures agree with each other while the MOA number does not.
Its mechanically comparable 5-25×56 sibling publishes 60 MOA, 17 MIL and 175 cm, which is internally consistent. That makes the 50 MOA on this page look like a transcription error. We print all three as published and would rely on the 17 MIL figure, since that is what your turret is actually graduated in.
Glass and dimensions
Eye relief is 3.6 inches at the bottom and 3.8 at the top. The scope weighs 30 ounces and measures 15.7 inches, with 6.2 inches of mounting space split evenly front and rear, on a 6.2 inch objective section with a 2.5 inch bell.
The page also omits the adjustable parallax row entirely, though its sibling publishes side focus explicitly. We are telling you what is and is not published rather than asserting a feature the spec table does not state.
Honest notes on the Leupold Mark 5HD 7-35×56 Tremor 3
The 35 mm main tube is the budget item nobody warns you about. It is not 30 mm and not 34. Rings and one-piece mounts in 35 mm exist but the market is narrower and prices are higher. Price the mount alongside the scope.
Tremor 3 is a commitment. If you are not going to learn to read the grid, it clutters the view for nothing, and a simpler reticle in the same body will serve you better. Buy it because you want the grid.
Flat Dark Earth appears only in the manufacturer model name and its image filenames; there is no finish specification row. Leupold does not name Horus anywhere on the page, so neither do we. No coating list or light transmission figure is published either.
Who this scope suits
Extended-range competitors and hunters who hold rather than dial, benchrest and F-class shooters, and anyone who needs to call their own impacts at distance. The Leupold Mark 5HD 7-35×56 Tremor 3 is designed, machined and assembled in the USA and guaranteed to perform for life.
Skip it if you have not learned the Tremor grid, if you need illumination, or if you will not use magnification above 25x. The 5-25×56 Tremor 3 weighs the same and costs less.
