Description
The IWI Tavor 7 is a 7.62 NATO bullpup that puts a 16.5-inch cold hammer forged barrel into a rifle just 26.75 inches long. It is a short-stroke gas piston design, fully ambidextrous, and this configuration wears an OD Green finish throughout.
Full-Power Rifle, Carbine Length
A conventional 7.62 rifle with a 16.5-inch barrel runs close to 36 inches overall. Moving the action behind the trigger drops the IWI Tavor 7 to 26.75 inches without shortening the barrel by a single inch. You keep the velocity and the sight radius of a full-length barrel in a package that clears doorways and vehicle interiors like an SBR.
Short-Stroke Gas Piston with Four-Position Regulator
The operating system is a short-stroke gas piston driving a closed rotating bolt, so combustion gas never enters the receiver. Fouling stays out front where it belongs. A four-position gas regulator lets you tune the rifle for suppressed fire, for adverse conditions or for standard ammunition. That adjustability is a large part of why the IWI Tavor 7 has such a reputation for running dirty.
Genuinely Ambidextrous
This is not a rifle with an ambidextrous safety bolted on. The ejection side and the charging handle can both be switched from left to right by the user, and the safety lever, magazine release and bolt catch are all ambidextrous already. The M4-pattern magazine release and 45-degree safety throw will feel immediately familiar to anyone who grew up on an AR.
Chrome-Lined Cold Hammer Forged Barrel
The barrel is CrMoV steel, cold hammer forged and chrome lined, with a 1:12 twist and four-groove right-hand rifling. That specification is chosen for service life rather than benchrest accuracy, and it will outlast most owners. Chrome lining also makes cleaning after corrosive or heavy shooting sessions far less of a chore.
SR25 Pattern Magazines
The rifle feeds from standard LR/SR25 pattern 20-round magazines, the same ones an AR-10 uses. There is no proprietary magazine to hunt down or pay a premium for. Magpul, Lancer and steel SR25 magazines all work, so building a deep stack is inexpensive.
Rails and Mounting
An M-LOK fore-end handles lights, lasers and bipods, and a full-length MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail runs across the top for optics. Because the IWI Tavor 7 is a bullpup, the rail sits low and long, which makes scope mounting straightforward.

Who Should Buy It
This suits the shooter who wants 308-class terminal performance in something short enough to work in confined spaces. Vehicle defense, hog hunting from a blind and suppressed use all play to its strengths.
The IWI Tavor 7 weighs nine pounds, which is heavy for its length, and bullpup triggers are longer and less crisp than a good AR trigger because of the linkage running back to the sear. The rifle also carries a premium price.
Shooters who want the lightest possible 308, or the crispest trigger, should compare a conventional AR-10 pattern rifle in our catalog. Every firearm we list ships to your chosen FFL and is transferred in accordance with federal and state law.
