Description
The Hornady 17 HMR 15.5gr NTX load is built for shooters who want more from their 17 HMR than typical factory ammunition delivers. Hornady loads a 15.5 grain NTX lead-free polymer tip to a rated 2525 feet per second, producing about 219 foot-pounds of energy. Hornady Varmint Express rimfire ammunition brings polymer-tipped bullet performance to rimfire rifles, with flat trajectory, tight groups and rapid expansion on small varmints and pests.

Buying ammunition by the box from the same production lot keeps velocity and point of impact consistent from one range trip to the next. Keep a record of the load you carry, check your ammunition for dents or loose bullets from time to time, and rotate your carry rounds so the ones in your firearm stay fresh. These simple habits help you get the full performance Hornady builds into every cartridge.
Before you trust any new load, fire enough rounds through your firearm to confirm it feeds, fires and ejects reliably and that the point of impact matches your sights. Full-power loads produce more recoil and muzzle blast than typical range ammo, so practice with the Hornady 17 HMR 15.5gr NTX until you are comfortable with it, and store the rest in a cool, dry place in the original box.
About the 17 HMR
Hornady introduced the 17 HMR (Hornady Magnum Rimfire) in 2002 by necking down the .22 WMR case. It shoots flatter and faster than any traditional rimfire, making 150- to 200-yard shots on prairie dogs, ground squirrels and small predators practical with a quiet, low-recoil rifle.
