The Holosun ARO Green 2 MOA is the original ARO rifle sight in green: a compact tube style red dot with a single 2 MOA reticle, half MOA adjustment clicks and both mount heights supplied in the box. It has been superseded by the ARO EVO line, which is worth knowing before you buy, and it is still a straightforward and durable optic in its own right. Because it is a closed tube, nothing can settle on the emitter. That is the same durability argument Holosun makes for its enclosed pistol sights, and on a rifle that lives in a truck or a blind it is the reason a tube sight keeps working when an open one needs wiping.

Holosun ARO Green 2 MOA Reticle and Optics

The reticle is a single 2 MOA green dot at 540 nanometres. There is no circle and no way to switch patterns, which keeps the interface simple. Green reads brighter than red at the same power draw because human eyes are most sensitive in that part of the spectrum, and it separates well from brown and green backgrounds in the field.

The window is 0.86 inches across. Adjustment on the Holosun ARO Green 2 MOA is 0.5 MOA per click with 50 MOA of travel in windage and elevation. Half MOA clicks are finer than most red dots offer and they earn their keep on a rifle, where a 2 MOA dot at 100 yards can hold a tighter group than a full MOA click can resolve.

Discontinued, and What That Means

Holosun has discontinued the plain ARO line in favour of the ARO EVO. We would rather say that plainly than let you find out later. In practice it means two things: the stock we hold is what exists, and future accessories and spares will be designed around the EVO rather than this housing.

What it does not mean is that the Holosun ARO Green 2 MOA is a lesser optic. The specifications below are Holosun published figures for this model, taken from their own archive page rather than substituted from the EVO. If you want the current generation instead, the ARO EVO models sit alongside this one in our optics category.

Both mount bases in the box are a genuine saving. Most optics in this class ship with one height and leave you buying the other, so if you run suppressor height irons on one rifle and standard irons on another, the Holosun ARO Green 2 MOA can move between them without a parts order.

Holosun ARO Green 2 MOA Battery and Build

Power is a single CR2032 rated at 50,000 hours. There are twelve brightness settings, ten for daylight and two that work under night vision. Shake Awake puts the sight to sleep when the rifle sits still and wakes it the moment it moves, so the runtime figure means something in practice rather than only on paper.

The housing is aluminium with a MAO finish, rated IP67 and tested to 1000G of shock. The Holosun ARO Green 2 MOA weighs 3.38 ounces and measures 2.48 by 1.54 by 2.63 inches. Both a lower third and an absolute co witness mount base ship in the box, so you can set the height to match your irons without buying anything extra.

Tube style sights like this one behave differently from open reflex optics in bad light. The housing shades the emitter, so you get less washout looking into low sun, and the tube gives the eye a frame to centre the dot in. The cost is a narrower field of view than an open sight of the same size, which is the tradeoff you are making.
