Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser Pistol – Reliable 8 Round 3.5 in

Description

The Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser is the compact Hi-Point pistol shipped with a LaserLyte trigger guard mounted red laser already fitted. It runs a 3.5 inch barrel, holds eight rounds in a single stack magazine, weighs 29 ounces and measures 6.75 inches overall. The manufacturer part number is CF380TGM and the UPC is 752334038067. It is a budget defensive pistol with a genuinely unusual warranty behind it, and the notes below are honest about both the strengths and the compromises.

What You Actually Get

Hi-Point builds pistols differently from everyone else. The slide is cast Zamak rather than machined steel, the action is simple blowback rather than locked breech, and the whole design is optimized for cost rather than weight or elegance. The result is a 380 acp pistol that weighs 29 ounces, which is roughly double what a modern polymer pocket 380 weighs. That is the central trade with a Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser and it needs stating plainly.

The upside of that mass is recoil. A heavy blowback 380 is one of the softest shooting defensive handguns available, which matters a great deal for shooters with weak hands, arthritis or limited grip strength. New shooters who flinch through a snappy pocket 380 often shoot a Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser comfortably, and a pistol you can shoot well beats one you dread firing.

The laser is the reason to choose this version. A trigger guard mounted laser from LaserLyte is fitted from the factory rather than bolted on later, so there is no fitting, no separate purchase and no question of whether it will clear the trigger guard. For close range defensive use at night or from an awkward position, a laser genuinely helps, and on a Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser it is effectively included in the price.

The Compromises, Stated Plainly

This is not a concealed carry pocket gun. At 29 ounces with a tall slide, a Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser conceals like a compact 9mm rather than like a 380, and it will pull on a waistband. It is better thought of as a nightstand gun, a truck gun or a home defense pistol than as something you carry all day. Anyone who wants a genuine pocket 380 should be looking at a lighter locked breech design.

Capacity is eight rounds in a single stack magazine and only one magazine ships in the box. Buy spare magazines for a Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser. There is also a magazine disconnect safety, which means the pistol will not fire without a magazine seated. Some shooters consider that a feature and some consider it a liability. Know which camp you are in before you buy, because it is not something you can remove.

Fit and finish is what you would expect at the price. The trigger is heavy and long, the sights are basic though adjustable, and the whole gun looks like a tool rather than a showpiece. What you get in exchange is the Hi-Point lifetime warranty, which covers the pistol for life regardless of who owns it or what went wrong, with no receipt required. In this price bracket that is genuinely unusual.

Who It Is For

A Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser makes sense for the buyer who wants a defensive handgun on a tight budget, for a shooter who needs very light recoil, and for anyone who wants a home or vehicle gun they will not worry about. The included laser and the lifetime warranty are real value at this price. Details on the range are published by Hi-Point Firearms.

It is not the right gun if you want to carry concealed all day, if you want a light pistol, or if you care about fit and finish. If those matter, browse our handguns and look at a compact striker fired 9mm instead, which will cost more but carry far better. Being honest about that saves everyone a disappointing purchase.

Practical notes. Buy two spare magazines, because one ships in the box and the magazine disconnect means a Hi-Point CF380 380 ACP Laser without a magazine is a paperweight. Run 100 to 150 rounds of your chosen load through it before trusting it, as you would with any defensive pistol. And check the laser zero at the distance you expect to use it rather than assuming the factory setting is right for you.
