HEVI-Shot Teal 12ga 3in 6 Shot – Superb Teal Shotshells

Description

The HEVI-Shot Teal 12ga 3in 6 Shot shell, item HS60006, is a 12 gauge, 3 inch teal load with 1 1/4 oz of #6 steel shot. It comes 25 rounds per box from HEVI-Shot, the Oregon maker known for dense, non-toxic hunting loads.

HEVI-Shot Teal 12ga 3in 6 Shot Overview

HEVI-Teal is a steel load sized for the smallest, fastest ducks. Teal fly in tight, twisting groups and are usually shot at close range, so a dense pattern of smaller pellets matters more than raw pellet energy. With #6 steel and a stout charge, this load puts a lot of pellets in the air, which makes it a natural fit for early teal season and for small ducks over decoys later in the year.

How HEVI-Teal Works

The load uses round steel pellets driven at high velocity in a waterfowl wad. Smaller #6 steel gives a high pellet count for its weight, filling the pattern so a fast, small bird is less likely to slip through. Steel is hard and does not deform in the barrel, which keeps patterns even. Because the pellets are light, keep shots at close to moderate range where they still carry enough energy.

Shot Size and Game

#6 is a small size with a high pellet count for small, fast birds at close range. Keep shots close, where small #6 steel still carries enough energy for clean kills on teal and other small ducks. Pattern your gun with this load before the season, because every barrel and choke combination reacts a little differently.

Choke and Barrel Notes

Steel and blended loads pattern tighter than lead through a given choke, so most makers suggest improved cylinder or modified chokes. Some older barrels and full chokes are not rated for steel, so check your gun manual or choke markings, and never fire steel through a choke marked lead only.

Chamber and Recoil

Fire this shell only in 12 gauge shotguns chambered for 3 inch shells or longer. Never use it in a gun with a shorter chamber. Expect recoil in line with other hunting loads of this gauge and payload. A well-fitted gun, a good recoil pad and proper mount make long days in the field more comfortable.

Regulations

Federal rules require non-toxic shot for migratory waterfowl hunting across the United States, and this load meets that requirement. Many states also require non-toxic shot on certain public lands and refuges for other game. Always check your state regulations, bag limits and any plug requirements before you hunt.

Patterning Tips

Before the season, shoot this load at a large paper target from the distance you expect to hunt. Count how many pellets land in a 30 inch circle and look for gaps that a bird could slip through. Try more than one choke if you can, and note where the center of the pattern lands compared with your point of aim. A few shells spent at the range build real confidence in the field.

About HEVI-Shot

HEVI-Shot is an American ammunition company based in Oregon that helped pioneer dense, non-toxic shot. Its lineup covers waterfowl, upland, turkey and predator loads in steel, bismuth, blended and tungsten-based shot, all built for hunters who need non-toxic shot that still performs.

Storage and Care

Store shotshells in a cool, dry place in their original boxes. Shells used in the field often get wet; let them dry before storing, and discard any with swollen or damaged hulls.
