Description
The GSG Firefly HGA Tan 4 Inch 10 Round is the plain-barrel version of German Sport Guns’ full-size .22 LR pistol, finished in tan on both the slide and frame and imported by American Tactical (ATI). It has a 4-inch unthreaded barrel and a 10-round magazine, which makes it a straightforward rimfire trainer that ships to more places than the threaded models.

GSG Firefly HGA Tan 4 Inch 10 Round Overview
The Firefly mimics the controls of a full-size DA/SA service pistol, with an exposed hammer, a two-sided manual safety and a frame rail for a light. Underneath it is a simple straight blowback rimfire with a fixed barrel, which is easy to understand and easy to clean. The all-tan finish with black grip panels gives it the look of a desert-colored duty gun, and the 10-round magazine keeps it legal in more states than the 13-round threaded versions.
Unthreaded Barrel and 10-Round Magazine
Choosing the plain 4-inch barrel over the threaded HGA models has real advantages. The pistol is shorter, fits more holsters and avoids the threaded-barrel restrictions found in some states. The tradeoff is that you cannot mount a suppressor or compensator. The 10-round magazine is the standard Firefly magazine, and spares are easy to find. If you want a can-ready Firefly, consider the threaded HGA versions instead.

Ammo and Reliability
A straight blowback .22 needs ammunition with enough energy to cycle the slide. Choose high-velocity round-nose loads from major makers, and expect some failures with standard-velocity target ammo, especially during the first few hundred rounds. Rimfire residue builds quickly in the chamber and on the breech face, so regular cleaning keeps extraction reliable. Occasional duds are a normal part of rimfire shooting rather than a sign of a faulty pistol.
Weight, Grip and Trigger
The zinc alloy frame brings the weight to roughly 24 ounces, heavy for a .22 but helpful for steady aim and nearly zero felt recoil. The full-size grip fills adult hands; smaller shooters may find the double-action reach long. The first double-action press is heavy, while single-action follow-up shots are much lighter. A windage-adjustable rear sight lets you center your groups, and the rail accepts compact lights and lasers.

Tan Finish Notes
The tan color covers both the slide and frame, with black polymer grip panels and black controls. Like other colored finishes on zinc alloy, it can wear at high edges with holster use, drops or aggressive cleaning solvents, and it will not match every tan accessory exactly. None of this affects function. Holster selection is narrower than for popular centerfire pistols, so look for models made for the Firefly.
Value and Limits
The Firefly is built to a price. Fit and finish are basic, the double-action pull is heavy and resale value is modest compared with major-brand rimfires. Its strengths are low cost per shot, a familiar service-pistol manual of arms and an approachable feel for new shooters. For range days, teaching and inexpensive practice, it does the job; serious bullseye shooters should look at a dedicated target .22 instead.
State Laws and Ownership
ATI lists the Firefly line as not for sale in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Vermont and Washington, largely because of state handgun rosters and related rules. Local ordinances may add further restrictions. Check your state and local laws before ordering, and make sure your receiving dealer can transfer the pistol.
