Description
The Grand Power Stribog SP45A3 45ACP FDE brings the classic .45 ACP cartridge to the roller-delayed Stribog platform. It has an 8-inch threaded barrel, an SB Tactical folding brace, ambidextrous controls and a tan Cerakote receiver, and it feeds from 20-round magazines. Grand Power builds it in Slovakia and Global Ordnance imports it.
Grand Power Stribog SP45A3 45ACP FDE Overview
Our store listing shows only the model name, but this UPC is the FDE version of the SP45A3 according to distributor records. The A3 action uses rollers to delay the opening of the bolt, so the heavy, slow .45 ACP bullet produces a smooth push rather than the jolt of a simple blowback gun. The upper receiver is aluminum with a full-length top rail, a short bottom rail and M-LOK slots at 3 and 9 oclock, and the polymer lower takes an AR-style grip. Grand Power lists about 2,470 grams, near 5.4 pounds, without a magazine.
The Case for .45 ACP in a Pistol Carbine
The .45 ACP is subsonic in almost every common load, which matters if you ever plan to suppress the gun: subsonic rounds avoid the supersonic crack, so a suppressed SP45A3 is notably quieter than a 9mm firing standard ammunition. Big 230-grain bullets hit hard at close range and the recoil impulse is a push, not a snap. The trade-offs are ammunition cost, which runs higher than 9mm, and a lower round count per pound carried.
FDE Cerakote Finish
The upper and lower wear tan Cerakote, with a black brace, grip and magazines for contrast. FDE hides dust and light wear better than black and stays cooler to the touch in the sun. Cerakote resists solvents and scratches, though it can still show wear on high-contact edges over years of use. Earth tones vary between manufacturers, so a tan light or optic from another brand may not match exactly, and screen colors can differ from the real finish.
Magazines, Barrel and Controls
The SP45A3 feeds from 20-round UMP-style polymer magazines that share a body style with the 10mm Stribog but are caliber specific, and they are not interchangeable with 9mm Stribog magazines. The 8-inch barrel is threaded; confirm the thread pitch before you buy a muzzle device or mount. Flip-up backup sights sit on the top rail with plenty of room for a red dot. The safety and magazine release are ambidextrous, and the charging handle does not reciprocate.
Brace Rules
The SB Tactical side-folding brace adds stability and folds out of the way for storage. The 2023 ATF rule that reclassified many braced pistols was vacated by federal courts in 2024, but brace rules have changed several times and states may take their own approach, so stay current before you travel with the gun. Adding a vertical foregrip to a pistol can create an NFA item, so use an angled grip or handstop instead.
Honest Caveats
Spare SP45A3 magazines and parts are less common than accessories for mainstream pistol-caliber carbines, and repairs may require shipping it to the importer. Resale value for a specialty import can be unpredictable. The gun weighs more than five pounds empty, so it is a range and truck gun rather than a carry piece. Suppressors are NFA items that need an approved ATF Form 4 and state legality, and silencer thread adapters add cost.
State Laws and Ownership
Braced pistols with threaded barrels and magazines outside the grip are banned or restricted in California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Illinois, Washington, Colorado and Delaware, and those states also limit magazine capacity. Pennsylvania has no assault weapon ban, and handgun sales go through a licensed dealer with a background check. Check state and local rules before ordering.
