Fusion Firearms XP Comp TR Chrome Overview
Fusion Firearms in Venice, Florida machines the XP Comp from bar stock in partnership with Ermox, and this edition adds thumbrests integrated into both sides of the frame. It is the non-ported version: the slide and barrel are the same as the standard XP Comp, with recoil control coming from the pinned compensator and the thumbrests rather than extra slide ports. Underneath the chrome are a steel frame with accessory rail, a modular aluminum grip with removable magwell, a 4.6-inch Clark/Para ramped bull barrel, a full-length guide rod and a one-piece steel trigger.
Thumbrests and Recoil Control
Thumbrests give the support thumb a ledge to push down on, so you can actively steer the muzzle back onto target. Paired with the comp and a heavy steel frame, the result is a pistol that tracks very flat during fast strings. Since the rests are on both sides, the setup works for left-handed shooters too. Expect a wider pistol overall, which limits holster choices to competition rigs or custom Kydex and makes concealed carry impractical.
Chrome Finish Care
Chrome resists corrosion and stands out on a match line, but it shows fingerprints, carbon and holster wear more clearly than black Tennifer. Comp fouling collects on the front of the slide, so plan on a wipe-down after each session. A polished slide can also throw glare in direct sunlight, something to consider if you shoot outdoor matches behind a red dot.
Compensator Notes
The comp is pinned rather than threaded, so the pistol has no threaded barrel, which can matter in some states. It does make the gun louder and adds side blast for people next to you at the range. A suppressor is not an easy option on this design. Clean the comp ports regularly to keep them working as intended.
Optics, Sights and Trigger
Novak-compatible combat sights are standard, and the rear sight mounts on a plate that can be swapped for the included RMR plate, accepting RMR and SRO footprint optics. The one-piece steel trigger delivers a crisp single-action break with a short reset. The ambidextrous thumb safety must be disengaged on the draw, so practice until it becomes automatic.
Before You Commit
This is a limited-production Custom Shop variant, so some parts specific to the thumbrest frame may need to come straight from Fusion. Fusion is a smaller maker than the established 2011 brands, so resale value is less predictable. On the plus side, standard Glock G17 pattern magazines keep spare magazine costs low. Some distributors describe this model as ported; Fusion lists the ported thumbrest pistol under a separate code, so confirm with us if porting matters to you.
State Laws and Ownership
The included 17-round magazines are not legal in states with capacity limits; Fusion makes a separate 10-round thumbrest version. Handgun rosters and feature restrictions also vary by state. Check your local laws before ordering.
