Fusion Firearms XP Comp TR Black Overview

Fusion Firearms of Venice, Florida built this version after customers asked for an XP Comp with integrated thumbrests. Both sides of the frame carry a gas pedal that gives the support-hand thumb a solid anchor point, without adding ports or changing the slide. Everything else follows the XP Comp design developed with Ermox: a steel frame with Picatinny rail, a modular aluminum grip with removable magwell, a 4.6-inch Clark/Para ramped bull barrel, a pinned threadless compensator, a one-piece steel trigger and a full-length guide rod, all finished in black Tennifer QPQ.

What the Thumbrests Do

A gas pedal gives the support thumb something to press against, which lets you apply downward pressure to fight muzzle rise. Combined with the compensator, that leverage means flatter shooting, faster transitions between targets and more consistent support-hand indexing from shot to shot. Because they are ambidextrous, left-handed shooters get the same benefit. The trade-off is width: the pedals stick out from the frame, which rules out most standard holsters and makes the pistol even less suited to concealment.

A Gamer’s Pistol

This configuration is aimed squarely at action shooting. Seventeen-round magazines, a red dot plate, a big magwell and a heavy, flat-shooting frame all point toward USPSA, IDPA-style club matches and steel events. Check division rules before a sanctioned match, since some divisions limit add-ons like thumbrests or set weight and size limits.

Compensator and Maintenance

The comp is pinned rather than threaded, so there is no threaded barrel to worry about, but it also means you cannot easily mount a suppressor. Expect more muzzle blast and noise than an uncompensated gun, plus carbon buildup on the comp and front of the slide that needs regular cleaning. The black Tennifer QPQ finish hides that fouling better than chrome.

Sights, Optic and Trigger

Novak-compatible combat sights are standard, and the rear sight sits on a removable plate. The included RMR plate accepts RMR and SRO footprint red dots, and a large-window dot pairs especially well with a thumbrest grip. The one-piece steel trigger is machined from bar stock and gives a short, clean single-action break. Ambidextrous thumb safeties mean the pistol is carried cocked and locked, so practice wiping the safety on the draw.

Limited Production Notes

As a Custom Shop model built in limited quantities, this version can be harder to find than the standard XP Comp, and replacement thumbrest-specific parts may need to come directly from Fusion. Fusion is a smaller maker, so resale value is less predictable than mainstream competition brands. Its Glock-pattern magazine compatibility keeps feeding costs low.

State Laws and Ownership

Seventeen-round magazines are not legal in states with capacity limits, and some states keep handgun rosters or restrict compensators. Confirm that this pistol and its magazines are legal where you live before ordering.
