Description
This is a complete AR-15 lower receiver with Franklin Armory’s BFSIII binary trigger already installed, built out with an A2 pistol grip, an M4 collapsible stock and a thirty-round steel magazine. Add an upper and you have a rifle.
The Franklin Armory BFSIII Lower Receiver is the shortcut to a binary-equipped build. Buying the trigger separately and fitting it yourself is possible; buying the lower with it already in, headspaced to the receiver and tension-screwed, is simpler and usually cheaper by the time you have paid for the parts.
What a Franklin Armory BFSIII Lower Receiver includes
- A forged 7075-T6 aluminum lower receiver, hard-coat anodized black, marked multi-caliber.
- The BFSIII AR-Essential trigger, fitted.
- A specialized tension screw, which takes the play out of the upper-to-lower fit. On a budget build that is the difference between a rifle that rattles and one that does not.
- An A2 pistol grip and an M4 collapsible stock.
- A 30-round steel magazine.

What the Franklin Armory BFSIII Lower Receiver binary trigger does
- The selector has three positions: safe, semi-automatic, and binary.
- In binary the rifle fires one round when you pull the trigger and one more when you let it out. Two rounds, two distinct trigger movements.
- In semi-automatic it behaves like any other AR trigger, so the rifle is not committed to binary fire just because the trigger is fitted.
- It is a trigger, not a conversion. Nothing about it changes the upper, the bolt or the barrel.

Why a Franklin Armory BFSIII Lower Receiver earns its place
- The trigger is already in and already timed to the receiver. No fitting, no shimming, no discovering that your hammer drags.
- The tension screw is a genuinely useful inclusion that most complete lowers do not have.
- A stock and a grip come with it, so an upper is the only thing between you and a working rifle.
- A thirty-round magazine in the box is not nothing at current prices.
- Franklin Armory builds these in Minden, Nevada, and the receiver is marked as theirs.
Now the part that matters most on this particular product, and we are not going to be vague about it. A complete lower receiver is a firearm. It ships to your FFL and it goes through a background check exactly as a whole rifle does, regardless of the fact that one distributor files it under accessories.
Binary triggers are not legal everywhere. The distributor record on this item lists no sale into Illinois under PICA, and several other states restrict or prohibit binary and rapid-fire devices outright. The rules in this area have changed more than once in recent years and they are still moving. We are not going to guess on your behalf: tell us the delivery address when you order and we will check it before we take your money rather than after. If the answer is no, we will say so.
Note also a records discrepancy worth knowing about. Sports South and Zanders both give the part number as 0020024BLK, while our own listing has carried 00-20023-BLK and the name Libertas BLR. The receiver in the photograph is marked FAI-15. Same UPC on every record, so it is the same product; if the exact part number matters for your build, ask us to confirm it with the distributor before you order.
To finish the rifle you need an upper for your Franklin Armory BFSIII Lower Receiver. A TacFire complete 16 inch upper is the least expensive way to do it, and the Franklin Armory Salus is the ready-built alternative if you would rather not assemble anything. Magazines and ammunition: Magpul PMAG MOE 30-round and Hornady Critical Defense 223 55gr. Binary fire goes through ammunition faster than you expect, so buy more than you think you need — Hornady Critical Defense 223 73gr is the other load we hold deep for a Franklin Armory BFSIII Lower Receiver build.
One practical warning about any Franklin Armory BFSIII Lower Receiver. Binary fire empties magazines very quickly and it is unforgiving of a loose grip or a sloppy trigger finger. Shoot it in semi-automatic until the rifle is zeroed and you are comfortable with it, then switch. Many ranges also prohibit binary fire outright, so check before you drive there.
