Fort Scott 300 Blackout 115gr TUI Overview

Light, fast bullets give the 300 Blackout its flattest trajectory, and this 115 grain solid copper load is tuned for exactly that, with a tested 2,219 fps from a 16 inch barrel. The extra speed compared with heavier loads extends practical range for hogs, coyotes and deer where legal, while the tumbling design produces a wide wound path without needing high velocity to expand. Because the projectile is a single piece of copper, it holds together through bone and contains no lead, making it a practical all-purpose load for an AR-15 in 300 Blackout used for hunting and home defense.

How TUI Works

Fort Scott’s patented Tumble Upon Impact (TUI) design works differently from an expanding hunting bullet. Rather than mushrooming, the lathe-turned copper bullet is engineered so it begins to yaw and tumble shortly after it enters a target. A tumbling bullet presents its full length as it travels, creating a large wound channel while retaining its weight because it does not fragment or shed petals. That means deep, consistent penetration and no lead fragments in game meat.

Non-Lead Construction

Because the bullet is a single piece of copper turned on a lathe, it contains no lead core. That makes it compliant in areas that restrict lead ammunition for hunting and reduces lead exposure at the range. Monolithic bullets are longer than lead-core bullets of the same weight, so Fort Scott tunes seating depth and powder charge for each load.

Firearm Compatibility

Fire this ammunition only in firearms chambered for 300 AAC Blackout, also marked 300 BLK. Never load it into a 5.56 NATO or 223 Remington rifle; the cartridges share magazines and can chamber in the wrong gun, causing catastrophic failure. Mark your magazines and keep the calibers separated. Fort Scott tested it with a 1:7.5 twist; most 300 Blackout barrels use 1:7 or 1:8 and should stabilize it.

Accuracy and Testing

Every rifle has its own preferences. Before you hunt with this load, fire several groups at your usual distance to confirm point of impact. Solid copper bullets often shoot to a different point than lead-core ammunition of the same weight, so a fresh zero check is always worth the time, and clean copper fouling from the bore if accuracy starts to drift.

Recoil and Shootability

Recoil is light in a typical AR-15 carbine, and short-barreled pistols remain controllable. This is a supersonic load, so it will crack even through a suppressor. Suppressors are NFA items that require an approved ATF Form 4 and must be legal in your state.
