Fiocchi 32 SW Long 100gr Wadcutter – Precise Target 50 Round Box

Description

The Fiocchi 32 SW Long 100gr Wadcutter load, item 32LA, is a 50 round box of 32 S&W Long ammunition from the Fiocchi Cowboy Action line, loaded with a 100 grain lead wadcutter (lwc) bullet rated at 730 fps. Fiocchi lists it in its Cowboy Action family, though it is equally at home in classic target revolvers.

Fiocchi 32 SW Long 100gr Wadcutter Overview

The 32 S&W Long is a soft-shooting, accurate cartridge with a long history in police revolvers and bullseye match pistols. Wadcutter loads like this one are its best-known use: a full-diameter, flat-faced bullet that punches clean holes for easy scoring. Fiocchi loads a 100 grain lead wadcutter to about 730 fps, a gentle velocity that keeps recoil low and accuracy high. Fiocchi has made ammunition since 1876 and remains one of the few major companies still producing 32 S&W Long, which makes a fresh supply welcome for owners of older target revolvers.

Intended Use

This load is built for target shooting and cowboy action matches rather than defense or hunting. A lead wadcutter cuts clean, full-diameter holes in paper that make scoring easy, and its mild charge keeps recoil and wear low in older and lightweight revolvers. Lead bullets are not ideal for self-defense, so carry a load designed for that purpose if you rely on your revolver for protection.

Bullet and Ballistics

At 730 fps the 100 grain wadcutter is a low-velocity load designed for paper targets at 25 to 50 yards. The flat nose and sharp shoulder cut crisp, round holes that are easy to score in bullseye matches. Fiocchi notes the bullet carries a protective coating that reduces fouling and wear compared with bare lead. The double-cannelure design helps keep the bullet securely seated in the case.

Firearm Compatibility

Fire this ammunition in revolvers and pistols chambered for 32 S&W Long. It can also be fired in revolvers chambered for 32 H&R Magnum and 327 Federal Magnum, which accept the shorter case. Never fire 32 H&R Magnum or 327 Federal ammunition in a gun chambered only for 32 S&W Long. Wadcutters seat flush with the case mouth and may not feed in some semi-automatic pistols that are not designed for them.

Reliability and Testing

Factory ammunition from an established maker is held to consistent standards, but every firearm is a little different. Shoot at least a box through your gun before you rely on any load, and watch for clean primer strikes and positive extraction. If you shoot more than one load, note where each one prints at your usual distance so you can adjust your sights or holds.

Recoil and Shootability

Recoil is very light, even in small, older revolvers. That makes this load pleasant for long bullseye sessions, for introducing new shooters to revolvers, and for preserving older guns that should not be pushed with modern high-pressure ammunition.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original box, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds for dents, loose bullets or corrosion before loading, and set aside anything that looks damaged.
