Compared with the common 55 grain practice round, this heavier bullet carries a better ballistic coefficient of .275, which means it holds velocity longer and resists wind drift at distance. Fiocchi rates it at 3,000 fps. For shooters who regularly stretch out past 200 yards on steel, it gives practice results closer to heavier duty and match loads while still costing far less than premium ammunition.
Intended Use
This is range and training ammunition. Full metal jacket bullets do not expand, so they are a poor choice for self-defense or hunting, where they can over-penetrate. Use this load to build skill, break in a new firearm and confirm function, then carry or hunt with a load designed for that purpose.
Bullet and Ballistics
The higher ballistic coefficient means this bullet loses speed more slowly and is pushed around less by crosswinds than a 55 grain FMJ. Muzzle velocity is lower, so expect a slightly different zero. A 1:9 twist barrel stabilizes 62 grain bullets in most conditions, and a 1:7 twist barrel handles them easily. Very slow 1:12 twist barrels may not stabilize the longer bullet, so check groups on paper first. The non-expanding jacket makes it unsuitable for hunting.
