Federal High Over All 28ga 9 Shot – Superb Small Gauge Skeet Shells, 25 Rounds

Description

Federal High Over All 28ga 9 Shot shells are Federal’s premium 28 gauge skeet load. Each 2 3/4 inch shell holds 3/4 ounce of hard, high antimony #9 lead, about 439 pellets, at roughly 1,250 feet per second. The result is a dense, even pattern with very light recoil, ideal for the close, fast targets of skeet. Each box holds 25 rounds.

Dense Patterns for 28 Gauge Skeet

Skeet targets cross close to the shooter, so pattern density matters more than individual pellet energy. #9 shot packs about 439 pellets into a 3/4 ounce charge, filling the pattern and making it easier to break targets cleanly even when your lead is slightly off.

The 28 gauge rewards good technique with smooth, comfortable shooting. Low recoil means you can stay relaxed and focused through an entire round, and many shooters find they mount the gun more consistently with a lighter, softer shooting setup.

Federal builds High Over All with hard, high antimony lead and a cushioning wad that helps keep pellets round at ignition. A solid brass head and reload friendly hull support competitors who reload their shells for practice and events.

Field Notes and Skeet Tips

Use Federal High Over All 28ga 9 Shot shells for 28 gauge skeet, five stand and close sporting clays presentations. A skeet choke or improved cylinder is the usual pairing for #9 shot at these distances.

Pattern your gun at 20 to 25 yards to see how evenly this load spreads. Understanding your pattern helps you trust your gun on fast crossing targets.

Keep 28 gauge ammunition separate from other gauges to prevent mix ups that could cause a barrel obstruction. A dedicated, labeled pouch is a simple safeguard.

Store boxes in a cool, dry place, and save your hulls if you reload.

If you shoot 28 gauge skeet and want a premium, dense patterning load with soft recoil, Federal High Over All 28ga 9 Shot shells are a superb choice. Pair them with a comfortable shell pouch for a full day on the field.

Skeet is a great training ground for upland hunters, and a 28 gauge loaded with fine shot is a favorite for early season quail and woodcock where lead is allowed. The skills you build breaking low house and high house targets translate directly to birds flushing at close range.

Many small gauge competitors shoot Federal High Over All 28ga 9 Shot shells for most skeet stations and switch to #8.5 when targets stretch out. Keeping both in a divided pouch makes it easy to pick the right load for each presentation.

Clean your shotgun regularly, especially the chamber and choke threads, since small gauge guns can be sensitive to buildup.

The 28 gauge has a reputation as a gentleman’s gauge, and it earns that name through balance and grace rather than raw power. Pairing a well fitted 28 gauge with a premium load lets you enjoy that experience fully, whether you are chasing a perfect round or simply enjoying a relaxed afternoon at the club.
