Description

Federal Champion 9mm 124gr FMJ in the 200 round box is range ammunition bought the sensible way. Brass cased, boxer primed, 124 grain full metal jacket at 1,090 fps, and priced per round rather than per box, which is what actually matters once you are shooting more than a handful at a time.
What You Get in Federal Champion 9mm 124gr FMJ
Champion is Federal high volume practice line, and it is made in Anoka, Minnesota alongside their premium ammunition. The bullet is a conventional full metal jacket, the case is reloadable brass and the primer is Federal own, which is the same primer family that goes into ammunition costing several times as much.
The 124 grain weight is the point of this particular load. It matches the bullet weight of most European service loads and a great many carry loads, so recoil impulse and point of impact track much closer to duty ammunition than a 115 grain practice round does. If you carry 124 grain, train with 124 grain.
The 200 round pack is simply the economical way to buy it. Federal Champion 9mm 124gr FMJ in this format costs noticeably less per round than the 50 round box and takes up far less shelf space than four separate boxes.
Specifications and Ballistics
Federal publishes 1,090 fps and 327 ft-lbs for this load. Worth flagging: Chattanooga Shooting Supplies lists 305 ft-lbs on their data sheet, which does not reconcile with 1,090 fps for a 124 grain bullet. The arithmetic agrees with Federal, so 327 is the figure to work from.
That is standard pressure 9mm. Expect close to the published velocity from a four to five inch service pistol, a little less from a compact, and noticeably less from a sub three inch micro-compact.

Field Notes
This is training ammunition. Full metal jacket does not expand and over-penetrates by defensive standards, so keep a proper hollow point in the carry gun and use Federal Champion 9mm 124gr FMJ to learn how that gun behaves.
Matching bullet weight to your carry load is the single most useful thing about this product. A 124 grain practice round and a 124 grain duty round will usually print much closer together than a 115 grain practice round would, which makes zero confirmation more meaningful.
The brass is worth keeping if you reload. Two hundred pieces of once-fired Federal brass has real value, and it quietly lowers the effective cost of the box.
Need a smaller quantity or a bigger one? The same load is stocked in a 50 round box, and the 115 grain version comes in a 500 round bulk pack and a 200 round pack. Published ballistics are available from Federal Ammunition.
For anyone who shoots 9mm regularly and carries a 124 grain load, Federal Champion 9mm 124gr FMJ in the 200 round pack is the straightforward choice. MAG5 Firearms stocks it as manufacturer item C9124A200.
