Affordable Practice for Pocket Pistols

The 380 ACP is one of the most popular chamberings for small concealed carry pistols, from the Smith and Wesson Bodyguard and Ruger LCP to the Beretta Cheetah and SIG P365-380. Those small guns are easy to carry, but they can be harder to shoot well, so regular practice matters. Champion gives you a consistent, budget friendly round for that practice.

A 95 grain full metal jacket bullet is the standard practice weight for the 380 ACP, and it closely matches the recoil and point of impact of many defensive loads in the same weight class. That means the skills you build at the range carry over to your carry ammunition.

Full metal jacket bullets feed reliably in most semi-automatic pistols and leave clean holes in paper targets, making it easy to see and score your groups.

Field Notes and Practice Tips

Use Federal Champion 380 Auto 95gr FMJ ammo for range practice, defensive drills, and break in of a new 380 pistol. Many owners shoot 200 or more practice rounds through a new carry gun before trusting it, then confirm function with a box or two of their chosen defensive load.

Short barrels and light slides make small pistols snappy. Focus on a high, firm grip and a smooth trigger press, and start at close distances before moving targets farther out. Dry fire practice with snap caps between range trips reinforces good habits for free.

Full metal jacket ammunition is designed for practice, not personal defense. For carry, choose a quality hollow point load and test it in your pistol.

Clean your pistol after each range trip, paying attention to the feed ramp, extractor and breech face, since small pistols are sensitive to buildup.

If you carry a 380 pistol and want affordable ammunition to train often, Federal Champion 380 Auto 95gr FMJ is a proven, budget friendly choice. Add snap caps for dry fire practice to get even more from every range trip.

Practice drills that work well with Federal Champion 380 Auto 95gr FMJ ammo include drawing from concealment, firing a controlled pair at seven yards, and reloading quickly from a spare magazine. Track your times and group sizes in a notebook so you can see steady improvement. An affordable box of this training ammunition makes it practical to repeat these drills every month, which is the real key to carrying confidently.

Store Federal Champion 380 Auto 95gr FMJ ammo in a cool, dry place and keep practice and carry rounds in separate, labeled boxes to avoid mix ups.
