Description
Federal American Eagle 40 SW 180gr FMJ ammunition is a 50 round box of the most popular 40 S&W practice load. The 180 grain full metal jacket bullet leaves a 4 inch test barrel at about 1,000 feet per second, matching the weight of most 40 S&W duty and defense rounds so your range time feels like the real thing.

A Box for Every Range Trip
Not everyone needs a full case. A 50 round box is the right size for a quick practice session, a pistol qualification or checking the zero on a new handgun. It also makes it easy to keep a box in your range bag or vehicle.
The 180 grain bullet is the original 40 S&W weight and still the most common. Its moderate velocity produces a firm push instead of a sharp snap, and Federal’s published data shows it holding about 900 feet per second at 100 yards.
American Eagle is made with Federal primers, Federal brass and clean burning powders. Consistent components mean consistent results, which is exactly what you want from practice ammunition.

Getting More from Each Box
Use Federal American Eagle 40 SW 180gr FMJ ammo only in firearms chambered for 40 S&W.
Split each box into short drills, such as five rounds from the holster, five with a reload, and five at 15 yards.
If you carry a 180 grain hollow point, confirm both loads print to the same point of aim.
Keep a simple log of each session so you can see your progress over time.
Federal American Eagle 40 SW 180gr FMJ ammo is a proven choice for 40 S&W pistol owners who want a convenient box of quality practice ammunition for regular range trips.
The 40 S&W was created to combine a heavier bullet with the magazine capacity of a mid size pistol. It became a common duty cartridge and remains popular in pistols from Glock, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer and others. Federal American Eagle 40 SW 180gr FMJ rounds produce roughly 400 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle by standard calculation, close to many 180 grain defensive loads.
Practice is the only way to get comfortable with the 40 S&W, which has a bit more recoil than a 9mm. Spending time with Federal American Eagle 40 SW 180gr FMJ ammo helps you build a firm grip and quicker recovery between shots.
Full metal jacket bullets feed reliably, leave clean holes in targets and cost less than hollow points, which makes them the standard choice for practice.
Store your ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original box. Buying a few boxes of Federal American Eagle 40 SW 180gr FMJ from the same lot helps keep point of impact consistent from one range trip to the next.
A good practice routine does not need hundreds of rounds. Fifty well planned shots can cover draw speed, sight picture, trigger control, reloads and shooting at several distances. Focus on doing each step correctly before speeding up, and finish each session with a few slow, careful shots to reinforce good habits. Clean and lubricate your pistol afterward so it is ready for the next trip.
