Description
The Federal 7.62×39 124gr FMJ load is built for shooters who want more from their 7.62x39mm than typical factory ammunition delivers. Federal loads a 124 grain full metal jacket to a rated 2350 feet per second, producing about 1521 foot-pounds of energy. Unlike much imported steel-cased ammunition, this load uses reloadable brass cases and Boxer primers for clean, reliable function.
Why Choose the Federal 7.62×39 124gr FMJ

Built for Training and Practice
- Affordable load for regular range practice
- Reliable feeding and ignition
- Consistent velocities for repeatable practice
- Quality brass cases
Buying ammunition by the box from the same production lot keeps velocity and point of impact consistent from one range trip to the next. Keep a record of the load you carry, check your ammunition for dents or loose bullets from time to time, and rotate your carry rounds so the ones in your firearm stay fresh. These simple habits help you get the full performance Federal builds into every cartridge.
Before you trust any new load, fire enough rounds through your firearm to confirm it feeds, fires and ejects reliably and that the point of impact matches your sights. Full-power loads produce more recoil and muzzle blast than typical range ammo, so practice with the Federal 7.62×39 124gr FMJ until you are comfortable with it, and store the rest in a cool, dry place in the original box.
The 7.62x39mm cartridge was developed in the Soviet Union during World War II and became famous as the round fired by the AK-47 and SKS. It is one of the most widely used rifle cartridges in the world, valued for its moderate recoil, reliable function and effective performance at typical carbine distances.
Brass-cased 7.62×39 ammunition has become a popular upgrade for shooters who want cleaner, more consistent practice ammo than surplus steel-cased loads. Brass seals the chamber well, extracts smoothly and can be reloaded, and many owners find it improves accuracy and reduces cleaning time after a long day at the range.
