Description
Federal 40 SW 125gr BallistiClean ammunition is a lead free frangible training load designed for close range steel target work and indoor ranges. Its 125 grain RHT (Reduced Hazard Training) bullet breaks apart on contact with hard targets, cutting down the ricochet and backsplash risk that comes with solid jacketed bullets. Each box holds 50 rounds of 40 S&W.

Safer Training on Steel
Shooting steel at close range is fun and builds speed, but solid bullets can bounce back or throw jacket fragments toward the firing line. Frangible bullets solve that problem. Made from compressed powdered metal rather than a lead core, the RHT bullet holds together in flight and through the barrel, then breaks into fine particles when it strikes steel.
BallistiClean loads also use a copper plated primer and carry an NT (non toxic) headstamp, which makes them easy to identify at ranges that track lead free ammunition. Keeping lead off the backstop and out of the air is a major benefit for shooters who train often indoors.
Because the bullet is lighter than standard 40 S&W loads, recoil is softer, which makes long drills and qualification practice more comfortable.

Training Tips for Frangible Ammo
Use Federal 40 SW 125gr BallistiClean ammo only in firearms chambered for 40 S&W.
Light frangible bullets can print to a different point of impact than duty or defensive loads. Check your sights with both before relying on either.
Follow your range’s minimum distance rules for steel targets. Frangible ammunition reduces splash back but does not remove the need for eye protection and safe distances.
Run several magazines through your pistol to confirm reliable feeding and cycling with this lighter load.
Federal 40 SW 125gr BallistiClean ammo is a proven choice for shooters who train on steel at close range, indoor ranges that require lead free or frangible ammunition, and instructors who run high volume drills.
Frangible ammunition has long been a staple in shoot houses and on steel ranges, where shooters move and engage targets at close distances. Federal 40 SW 125gr BallistiClean rounds bring that same safety focused approach to civilian shooters who want to run similar drills at their local range.
The 40 S&W remains a popular choice for duty and home defense pistols, and many owners want a training load that lets them practice often without the lead exposure of traditional ammunition. Federal 40 SW 125gr BallistiClean ammo fits that need, giving you a clean option for regular practice with the same pistol you carry or keep at home.
Frangible bullets are designed for training rather than defense. Keep a quality hollow point load for carry and use these rounds for the repetitions that build speed, accuracy and smooth gun handling.
Store your ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original box. Buying several boxes of Federal 40 SW 125gr BallistiClean at once keeps you supplied for steel matches, qualification practice and regular range sessions throughout the year.
Because frangible bullets break apart on hard surfaces, they are also popular for training in steel lined bays and on reactive targets placed closer than traditional ammunition allows. Always check your range rules, since some facilities set their own minimum distances for frangible loads. Clean your pistol after each session, as frangible powder residue can collect in the action and magazine over time.
