Description
The Federal 40 S&W 165gr Syntech TSJ load is built for shooters who want more from their .40 S&W than typical factory ammunition delivers. Federal loads a 165 grain Total Synthetic Jacket flat nose to a rated 1060 feet per second, producing about 412 foot-pounds of energy. American Eagle Syntech loads use a Total Synthetic Jacket that fully encapsulates the bullet in a polymer coating. The coating eliminates metal-on-metal contact with the bore, which reduces copper and lead fouling, lowers barrel heat and wear, and cuts down on splash-back when shooting steel targets.
Why Choose the Federal 40 S&W 165gr Syntech TSJ
- 165 grain Total Synthetic Jacket flat nose bullet
- Rated 1060 fps and 412 ft-lbs
- Brass cases with reliable primers
- Polymer-coated bullet for reduced fouling
- 50 rounds per box, item AE40SJ1
Built for Training and Practice
- Affordable load for regular range practice
- Reliable feeding and ignition
- Consistent velocities for repeatable practice
- Quality brass cases
Buying ammunition by the box from the same production lot keeps velocity and point of impact consistent from one range trip to the next. Keep a record of the load you carry, check your ammunition for dents or loose bullets from time to time, and rotate your carry rounds so the ones in your firearm stay fresh. These simple habits help you get the full performance Federal builds into every cartridge.
Before you trust any new load, fire enough rounds through your firearm to confirm it feeds, fires and ejects reliably and that the point of impact matches your sights. Full-power loads produce more recoil and muzzle blast than typical range ammo, so practice with the Federal 40 S&W 165gr Syntech TSJ until you are comfortable with it, and store the rest in a cool, dry place in the original box.
The .40 S&W was introduced in 1990 by Smith and Wesson and Winchester as a shorter version of the 10mm Auto that fits in 9mm-sized pistol frames. It quickly became a leading law enforcement cartridge and is still carried by many agencies and private citizens, offering more bullet weight than the 9mm with recoil that most shooters can manage well.
