Description
The Federal 12 ga 1-1/8oz #4 Prairie Storm load is built for hunters who want dependable patterns on pheasants and upland birds. Federal loads 1 1/8 oz of #4 FliteStopper steel shot to a rated 1600 feet per second in a 3 in 12 Gauge shell. Federal Prairie Storm FS Steel loads use FliteStopper steel shot, which has a cutting ring around each pellet that creates a larger wound channel on pheasants and other upland birds. The payload rides in a FliteControl Flex wad that delivers tight, consistent patterns at extended ranges and works with both standard and ported chokes.

Patterning your shotgun with a new load is the best way to know how it performs. Shoot a few rounds at a large sheet of paper at 25 to 35 yards with the choke you plan to hunt with, and check that the densest part of the pattern lines up with your point of aim. Trying a tighter or more open choke can make a real difference on fast, close birds.
Store shotshells in a cool, dry place in their original box, and keep loads with different shot sizes separated so you always grab the right shell in the field. Buying enough from the same lot for the whole season keeps velocity and pattern consistent from one hunt to the next, so your practice carries over to the field.
Pheasant hunting is one of the most popular upland pursuits in America, especially across the Great Plains and Midwest. Ring-necked pheasants are large, tough birds that often flush at the edge of shotgun range late in the season, so hunters favor heavier loads with larger shot sizes that carry enough energy to bring birds down cleanly.

Why Choose Federal 12 Gauge Shotshells
More public hunting land now requires non-toxic shot, and ordinary round steel pellets can struggle to bring down tough, fast-flushing roosters. Prairie Storm answers that with FliteStopper pellets whose raised ring cuts tissue on impact, delivering knockdown power closer to lead.
The FliteControl Flex wad keeps the steel payload together longer for denser patterns, helping hunters make clean shots on birds flushing at the edge of range.
Federal Premium has made ammunition in Anoka, Minnesota since 1922 and is one of the most trusted names in shotshells. Its Prairie Storm line was developed for pheasant hunters who need non-toxic loads, and federal 12 ga ammo from this line is chosen by upland hunters who want dense patterns and knockdown power on tough birds.
Prairie Storm 12 gauge #4 steel loads suit pheasant hunters on public land with non-toxic shot rules and anyone who wants steel loads that hit hard on late-season roosters. Always confirm your shotgun is chambered for 3 in 12 Gauge shells, wear eye and ear protection, and follow all federal, state and local hunting laws.
