The Faxon Pro 16-inch 6mm ARC (model FXPRO6A16GA15) is a complete, made-in-Ohio semi-automatic rifle built around the 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge. It ships ready to shoot with a 10-round magazine and a soft case, and it is assembled from Faxon’s own receivers, barrel and bolt carrier rather than a pile of mixed parts.
Faxon Pro 6mm ARC AR-15 Rifle Overview
56 at distance. Getting it to run well takes the right combination of bolt, barrel, gas and magazine, and that is what the Pro line offers. The upper and lower are matched forged receivers machined by Faxon; the enhanced upper has M4 feed ramps and the lower has a tension screw to remove wobble between the two. The result is a rifle that feels tight and finished out of the box, with a black anodized finish and a full-length top rail for optics.
Barrel and Gas System
The heart of the rifle is a 16-inch Faxon Match Series barrel in Gunner profile with a mid-length gas system. Gunner is Faxon’s slimmed contour that keeps weight down without being whippy, and mid-length gas gives a softer recoil impulse than carbine gas. A low-profile, .750-inch adjustable gas block lets you tune the system for your ammunition, which matters when switching loads or running a suppressor. Expect to spend some range time getting the setting right; an over-gassed rifle beats up brass and an under-gassed one will short-stroke.
Bolt Carrier and Magazines
6mm ARC uses a larger bolt face than 5.56, so this rifle comes with a Faxon SuperFinished Type 2 bolt and nitride carrier set up for the cartridge. Do not swap in a standard 5.56 bolt carrier group. Magazines are just as important: use the included DURAMAG or other magazines made for 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel. Ordinary 5.56 magazines will not feed this round reliably, and capacity per magazine is lower than the 30 rounds AR owners are used to.
Trigger, Controls and Furniture
A Faxon Enhanced Match Trigger by Schmid comes installed, a real step above the gritty mil-spec triggers in many factory rifles. The Breek Sledgehammer charging handle is a gas-blocking design that keeps blowback out of your face when shooting suppressed. You also get an ambidextrous safety, a B5 Bravo stock and B5 pistol grip, a 3.0 oz carbine buffer, and a 15-inch Streamline M-LOK handguard with room for a bipod, light or sling points.
6mm ARC Performance and Ammo
In a 16-inch barrel, 6mm ARC with 103- to 108-grain match bullets stays supersonic well beyond 800 yards and drifts noticeably less in wind than any 5.56 load. Lighter 90- and 95-grain hunting bullets make it a capable deer and coyote round at sensible distances. The honest trade-off is cost and supply: factory 6mm ARC is more expensive and harder to find than 5.56 or 6.5 Creedmoor, and choices are narrower, so many owners end up handloading.
Muzzle Device and Suppressors
The muzzle wears a MuzzLok Plan B compatible flash hider on 5/8×24 threads, letting you mount a compatible suppressor directly without an extra adapter. A suppressor is an NFA item that requires an approved ATF Form 4 and tax stamp, and suppressors are not legal in every state. Note that the flash hider itself counts as a restricted feature under some state assault weapon laws.
State Laws and Ownership
This is a semi-automatic AR-15 with a pistol grip, adjustable stock and flash hider. It cannot be sold as configured into states with assault weapon bans, such as California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Illinois and Washington, and some cities add their own limits. Although the rifle ships with a 10-round magazine, check your state magazine capacity rules before buying extras. Pennsylvania residents can complete the transfer at our shop with a standard background check.
