Description

The Faxon Match Series 22 ARC 24 inch Barrel is a heavy fluted 416R stainless AR-15 barrel with 5R rifling, a rifle length gas system and a salt bath nitride finish inside and out. It is built for long range precision, competition and hunting rather than general purpose use.
Why 22 ARC
The .22 ARC pushes a fast, high ballistic coefficient .224 calibre bullet from a 6.5 Grendel case, which is why the barrel uses a 6.5 Grendel bolt and bolt carrier group rather than a standard 5.56 bolt. It is the flattest shooting cartridge available on the AR-15 platform.
A 24 inch barrel is where the cartridge gets to show what it can do. Every bit of the case capacity gets burned, velocity is at its maximum, and the long sight radius and added mass suit the precision role the round was designed for.
Faxon Match Series 22 ARC 24 inch Barrel Construction
The steel is 416R stainless, the grade used for match barrels because it machines to tighter tolerances and holds them. Rifling is Faxon’s 5R button rifled profile, which uses angled lands opposite grooves rather than opposite each other, reducing bullet deformation and fouling while extending barrel life.
The heavy fluted profile is the compromise that makes a 24 inch barrel usable. Fluting cuts weight from a heavy contour and adds surface area for cooling, while a fluted heavy barrel stays stiffer than a lightweight profile of the same mass.
Finish, Extension and Inspection
Salt bath nitride is applied inside and out, which hardens the bore surface as well as protecting the exterior. Unlike a coating it cannot chip or flake, and it is why nitride barrels clean so easily.
The M4 barrel extension is Nickel Teflon coated for lubricity, corrosion resistance and a precise receiver fit. Every barrel is individually magnetic particle inspected and headspaced with precision PTG gauges before it leaves Faxon’s Ohio plant.
Building Around This Barrel
A complete .22 ARC upper needs a 6.5 Grendel bolt and carrier, a .750 gas block, a rifle length gas tube and a handguard at least long enough to cover it. Faxon recommends an adjustable block so the gas can be dialled to the load, which is the single biggest factor in how softly a long, heavy barrelled AR runs.

Why Buyers Choose the Faxon Match Series 22 ARC 24 inch Barrel
The Faxon Match Series 22 ARC 24 inch Barrel is one of the few match grade options in a cartridge that is still new enough that choices are limited. Individually MPI tested and headspaced with PTG gauges, it is the sort of barrel that makes a build worth doing properly.
Who Should Buy It
Precision AR builders, long range competitors and varmint hunters who want a flat shooting .224 calibre with more reach than 5.56 can offer. It also suits anyone who already owns a 6.5 Grendel bolt and carrier and wants a second upper.
Be clear about what you need alongside it. The barrel requires a 6.5 Grendel bolt and BCG, not a standard 5.56 bolt, and Faxon recommends pairing it with an adjustable gas block for properly tuned cycling, especially suppressed. At 2.95 pounds this is a heavy contour barrel meant for precision rather than carrying.
