The EOTech HHS IX Holographic Hybrid Sight is a matched EOTech combo that pairs an EXPS3-DCR holographic weapon sight with a G45 5x magnifier on the STS (Switch to Side) quick-detach flip mount. You get a fast both eyes open sight for close work and 5x magnification for longer shots, all set up to work together out of the box. The finish is black.
EOTech HHS IX Holographic Hybrid Sight Overview
EOTech sells this combo as the HHS IX (part HHS IX). The EXPS3-DCR sight runs on one CR123 battery and has 20 daylight settings plus 10 night vision settings for Gen I through III+ devices. Its reticle is the DCR (Danger Close Reticle), a modified 68 MOA ring with a 1 MOA center dot and a chevron at the bottom in red. The sight is rated water resistant to 33 ft (10 m).
Why Holographic Is Different
A standard red dot reflects an LED off a coated lens. An EOTech uses a laser diode to light a hologram of the reticle that is recorded inside the window. The result is a crisp reticle that looks like it sits out at the target, and it stays clean for many shooters with astigmatism who see a red dot as a starburst. The hologram also stays sharp under magnification, which is why EOTech sights pair so well with a magnifier.
The Reticle
The center dot is your main aiming point, and the chevron gives you a fast close range aiming point that accounts for the height of the sight over the bore, which matters on very close shots. Windage and elevation adjust in 0.5 MOA clicks, and battery life is about 1,000 hours at brightness setting 12.
The Magnifier
The G45 gives you 5x with about 2.6 in of eye relief and a field of view of about 4 degrees. A rear diopter lets you focus the image for your eyes. Because the magnifier has no reticle of its own, it simply enlarges the sight picture in front of it, so your zero stays the same whether the magnifier is in line or flipped out.
Controls and Mounting
You control the sight with side-mounted buttons that stay clear of a magnifier mounted behind it. The sight attaches with an adjustable locking quick-detach lever that fits 1 in Weaver and MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails. The magnifier rides on the STS mount, which clamps to the rail with a quick-detach lever and swings the magnifier to the side when you want the unmagnified view. It can be set to flip either direction.
Built for Hard Use
EOTech designs and builds its HWS sights in Michigan, and the line has served with U.S. military and law enforcement units for years. The sight has a protective hood over the window, fog resistant internal optics and an operating range of -40 to 140 degrees F. Unlimited eye relief on the sight means you can place it anywhere on the rail that works with the magnifier behind it.

Zeroing Tips
Zero the sight first with the magnifier flipped out of the way. Most shooters zero an AR-15 carbine at 50 or 100 yards with the center dot. Start at about 25 yards to get on paper, then move back and fine tune. When you swing the magnifier in, your point of impact should not change, because the magnifier has no adjustments of its own.
