The EOTech G43 3x Magnifier Tan No Mount is a 3x magnifier built to sit behind an EOTech holographic weapon sight. This is the no-mount version, for shooters who already have a mount they like or want to choose their own. The housing is tan.
EOTech G43 3x Magnifier Tan No Mount Overview
EOTech part G43.NMTAN gives you fixed 3x magnification with about 2.5 in of eye relief and a field of view of about 7.5 degrees. The G43 is the compact 3x magnifier in the EOTech line, about an inch shorter than the G33, so it leaves more rail space for lights, backup sights and a natural hand position. It measures about 3.1 x 2.3 x 3.3 in and weighs about 11.3 oz. The magnifier is rated water resistant to 33 ft (10 m) and has fog resistant internal optics.
How a Magnifier Works With an HWS
A magnifier does not have its own reticle. It enlarges the view through the sight in front of it, reticle and all. Because an EOTech projects its reticle with a laser diode and a hologram, the ring and dot stay crisp under magnification instead of growing into a fuzzy blob. Your zero carries over, so there is nothing to re-zero when you add or remove it.
Focus and Setup
The rear ocular has a diopter adjustment so you can sharpen the image for your eyes. Set it once while looking at a distant target and lock it in. Mount the magnifier far enough back that you get a full sight picture from your normal cheek weld, and leave a little space between it and the HWS for the flip mechanism and your fingers.
Mounting
This version ships without a mount. Pick a flip mount that puts the optical axis at the same height as your sight. EOTech and several other makers sell mounts for this housing, including the EOTech STS mount.
Who Uses It
Patrol officers, hunters, competitive shooters and home defenders all use magnifiers for the same reason: they let one carbine handle close work and longer shots. With the magnifier flipped out you have a fast both eyes open sight, and with it flipped in you can identify a target or make a precise shot at distance.

Eye Relief Tips
Unlike the HWS itself, a magnifier has a fixed eye relief and a limited eye box. If you see a dark ring around the image, move your head forward or back until it clears. Practice mounting the rifle so your eye lands in the right spot every time, and the magnifier becomes just as fast to use as the sight in front of it.
