Eley Outlaw 22LR 42gr Semi Auto – Proven Benchrest Match Ammo, 50 Rounds

Description

Eley Outlaw 22LR 42gr Semi Auto ammunition is part of ELEY’s semi-auto benchrest family, made for shooters who want match style accuracy from self loading rimfire rifles such as the Ruger 10/22, Volquartsen, KIDD and similar builds. It uses a 42 grain round nose bullet, slightly heavier than standard 40 grain target loads, along with ELEY’s EP2723 lubricant to keep semi-auto actions cycling smoothly. Each box holds 50 rounds.

Accuracy That Keeps a Semi-Auto Running

Many high grade target rounds are tuned for bolt action rifles, where the shooter cycles the action by hand. Semi-autos have different needs. The round has to produce enough energy to work the bolt every time, feed from a rotary or box magazine without nose dives, and still group tightly. ELEY designed the Outlaw to meet all three goals.

The 42 grain round nose bullet adds a touch more momentum than a 40 grain projectile, which helps the bolt cycle reliably while keeping velocity in a stable subsonic range. That combination reduces the chance of failures to feed or eject during a timed string, while keeping groups compact out to typical rimfire benchrest distances.

ELEY’s EP2723 lube is a modern formula intended to reduce fouling buildup in the chamber and on the bolt face. A cleaner action means more rounds between cleanings and fewer feeding hiccups during long sessions on the bench or at a rimfire challenge match.

Field Notes and Benchrest Tips

Use Eley Outlaw 22LR 42gr Semi Auto ammo for rimfire benchrest, NRL22, rimfire precision rifle matches, steel challenge rifle stages and serious plinking with a semi-auto. If your rifle sometimes struggles with lighter target ammo, the extra cycling energy of a 42 grain bullet often solves the problem.

Like all rimfire ammunition, accuracy varies a little by production lot and by barrel. Test a few boxes, find the lot your rifle likes, and note the lot number printed on the box so you can request more from the same run.

Clean the chamber and bolt face periodically, and check your extractor for buildup. A clean action gives the most consistent headspace, which directly affects ignition and accuracy. Avoid aggressive bore cleaning right before a match; a few fouling shots after cleaning usually settle the first shot group.

Shooting in cold weather? Let your ammunition reach outdoor temperature before scoring, since temperature affects velocity and point of impact for any rimfire load.

If you want match level accuracy from a semi-auto 22 rifle without cycling problems, Eley Outlaw 22LR 42gr Semi Auto is a reliable choice for competition and serious practice. Add a protective ammo box and a quality rimfire cleaner to keep your rifle running clean through long sessions at the bench.

Store boxes in a cool, dry place and keep them sealed until use. Rimfire priming is sensitive to heat and moisture, and careful storage helps every round fire with the same consistency you paid for.
