Description
The Diamondback SDR 9mm Revolver puts the most popular handgun cartridge in America into a six-shot, 2 inch stainless steel snub-nose. This polished stainless model (DB0700P701) shares its frame, trigger and sights with the 357 Magnum SDR, but it is chambered for 9mm and rated for 9mm +P ammunition.

Diamondback SDR 9mm Revolver Overview
A 9mm revolver makes sense for anyone who already stocks 9mm for a pistol or carbine: one cartridge covers everything. The SDR holds six rounds instead of the five common to small revolvers, weighs about 21.2 ounces and measures 6.53 inches overall. Construction is stainless steel throughout, with a smooth double action trigger, an orange fiber optic front sight and a dovetailed green fiber optic rear. Recoil is milder than a 357 Magnum snub, and the extra steel weight helps tame muzzle rise compared with lightweight alloy revolvers.
Loading 9mm in a Revolver
9mm is a rimless cartridge, so the extractor star has nothing to grab unless the rounds are held together. Diamondback solves that by including a set of three TK Custom moon clips with every 9mm SDR. Each clip holds six rounds, drops into the cylinder as a single unit and ejects all six empties at once, which makes reloads faster than with loose rounds. Keep spare clips loaded and use a simple loading tool to save your thumbs. Rounds can sometimes be fired without clips, but extraction then requires poking out each case.

Double Action Trigger
In double action the pull runs roughly 9 to 11.5 pounds, smooth and non-stacking according to Diamondback. You can also cock the hammer for a lighter single action pull when you have time for a careful shot. As on any revolver, the internal hammer-block design means there is no manual safety to manipulate; the long, heavy double action pull serves that role, so keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
Sights and Accuracy
The fiber optic sights pick up ambient light and are faster to find than the milled grooves on many snubs. They do not glow in total darkness the way tritium does, so pair the SDR with a good flashlight if you keep it for home defense. With a 2 inch barrel the practical range is short, but the six-round cylinder and the soft 9mm recoil make fast, accurate follow-up shots realistic for most shooters.

Ammunition Notes
The 9mm SDR is rated for standard and +P loads. Bullet setback is not a concern in a revolver, though crimp jump can occur with very light bullets under recoil; this is rare with mainstream defensive loads. Test your chosen load in the clips you will carry, since thick or thin case rims can affect how tightly rounds seat. Budget practice ammunition is easy to find because the gun shares its cartridge with most modern pistols.
Carry and Holsters
At about 21 ounces the SDR rides comfortably in a belt holster and is a reasonable choice for a jacket pocket or vehicle. Its six-round cylinder is wider than a five-shot J-frame, so holsters must be made for the SDR or a similar six-shot frame. Clips are flat and easy to carry in a pocket, which is a real advantage over bulky round speedloaders.
State Laws and Ownership
Some states keep approved handgun rosters, and approval can differ between the 9mm and 357 versions and between finishes. Confirm this model is allowed where you live and check local rules for carrying a handgun outside the home before you order.
