Desert Eagle L5 44 Mag 6 Overview

The Desert Eagle L5 is a Desert Eagle pistol built for duty, home defense and range use. A good handgun should be reliable with a wide range of ammo, easy to shoot accurately and simple to maintain, and that is what this model is built to deliver.

Action and Controls

The Desert Eagle L5 runs on a single action only system. It holds 8+1 rounds. The safety is thumb. Practice your trigger press and reloads until they feel natural.

Barrel and Sights

The 6 inch barrel is carbon steel with an integral muzzle brake/picatinny rail profile and a 1:18″ twist. Sights are Fixed Combat. Check that your front sight is crisp in focus as you press the trigger, which is the key to accuracy with any handgun.

Frame, Slide and Finish

The frame is stainless steel and the slide is steel. The finish is Stainless with Stainless Steel. Slide details include serrated. Grips are Black Polymer.

Size and Carry

Overall length is 10.75″, height is 6.25″ and width is 1.25″. It weighs about 75.20 oz. That size gives a full grip and a longer sight radius for steady shooting at the range and at home.

Ammo and Practice

Feed this pistol quality factory ammo from a known brand. Shoot a few hundred rounds of practice ammo and at least a box of your chosen defensive load to confirm it runs reliably before you trust it for protection.

The 44 Magnum

The 44 Magnum is a powerful hunting and backcountry round with heavy recoil; most 44 Magnum guns also fire milder 44 Special.

Home Defense and Range Use

This pistol is a solid choice for home defense, range practice and many kinds of competition. For home defense, keep it in a quick access safe and pick a quality defensive load.

Holsters and Accessories

Plan on a quality holster made for this exact model, a magazine pouch, a lock or quick access safe, and eye and ear protection. A weapon light and a red dot are popular upgrades if the gun is set up for them.

Buying Tips

Pick up extra magazines, a quality holster and plenty of practice ammo. If you are new to handguns, a basic safety class is a smart first step.

Care and Value

Clean the bore and action after each range trip or hunt, keep moving parts lightly oiled and wipe the finish after handling. A well kept Desert Eagle holds its value.
