Description
The Derya DY9Z Purple Silver solves a problem the micro compact class created for itself. Guns this small have historically meant ten or twelve rounds, and the trade was accepted as the price of the size. This one is 6.5 inches long, an inch and a tenth wide, and holds fifteen plus one.
The silver slide over a purple frame is what gets noticed, but the specification underneath is the reason to care. The Derya DY9Z Purple Silver arrives with a metal magazine, three backstraps, a direct milled optic cut and a case, which is an unusual amount of content at this price.
What the Derya DY9Z Purple Silver actually is
- A striker fired 9mm Luger micro compact holding 15+1 with the supplied metal magazine.
- A 3.50 inch barrel in a pistol 6.5 inches long, 5 inches tall and 1.10 inches wide, weighing about 20 ounces.
- A silver optic ready slide with front and rear serrations, over a purple polymer frame with an accessory rail.
- An RMSc footprint cut machined directly into the slide, so a micro red dot mounts without a plate.
- Three interchangeable backstraps in small, medium and large, supplied in the box.
- Fixed white dot front and white U-notch rear sights, with a firing pin block and an anti-drop trigger block. Item DY9Z.PRPS.TR.

Why fifteen rounds at this size is the whole argument
- A micro compact is a compromise by definition. Every dimension is cut until the gun disappears under a shirt, and capacity is usually the first thing sacrificed.
- The Derya DY9Z Purple Silver keeps the width at 1.10 inches, which is where this class lives, and still gets fifteen rounds in the grip.
- On the Derya DY9Z Purple Silver that is achieved with the magazine rather than by making the gun taller, which is the dimension that actually prints through clothing.
- The practical result is that you are not choosing between a gun you will carry and a gun with enough rounds in it.
- The cost is recoil. Twenty ounces firing 9mm moves, and that is true of every gun in this category.

Magazines for the Derya DY9Z Purple Silver
Derya publishes the DY9Z sheet on its own site if you want the manufacturer view alongside ours: the DY9Z product page carries the same dimensions, trigger and optic cut printed above.
- The Derya DY9Z fifteen round magazine is the correct full capacity spare and the one the advertised 15+1 is based on.
- The grip also takes Glock 43X and 48 pattern magazines, which hold ten rounds and cost very little. They are the sensible practice option.
- Steel fifteen round conversions such as the Shield Arms S15 are popular in the Glock 43X. Derya does not list them as approved for the DY9Z and using one may affect your warranty, so check with Derya before buying one.
- For ammunition, CCI Blazer Brass 115 grain 9mm is the clean burning practice default.
- A note on the two magazine types: they are not interchangeable in capacity. Ten rounds is ten rounds whatever the gun is rated for.
Choosing a color, and the honest caveat
We list the DY9Z in a long run of finishes. The Black Cherry with the silver slide is the closest sibling to this one, and there is also a purple version with the standard black slide if the two tone is not for you. Mechanically all of them are identical.
The caveat that applies to every colored pistol: an applied finish shows holster wear eventually, on the slide flats and around the muzzle. On the Derya DY9Z Purple Silver the silver slide will show it before the frame does. That is not a defect and nobody warranties it. A range gun stays looking new for years; a daily carry gun earns marks. Worth knowing before you order rather than after.
Why the Derya DY9Z Purple Silver earns its place
- Fifteen rounds in a 1.10 inch wide pistol is the specification buyers in this class have been asking for.
- A direct RMSc cut takes a micro red dot with no plate, which removes a stack of tolerances and a set of fasteners.
- Three backstraps in the box means the grip can be fitted rather than endured, and fit matters more on a small gun.
- With the Derya DY9Z Purple Silver the case, cleaning kit and spare guide rod are included rather than upsold.
- Compliance note worth knowing: Derya lists the DY9Z as Maryland compliant, and not California or Massachusetts compliant.
The Derya DY9Z Purple Silver suits the carrier who refuses to give up rounds for size, the shooter who has already settled on an RMSc footprint dot, and the buyer who would rather their pistol did not look like every other black polymer gun in the case. The three backstraps make it genuinely fittable across a range of hand sizes.
The Derya DY9Z Purple Silver is a small pistol and it behaves like one. Expect more muzzle movement than a full size nine and a short sight radius, and expect to spend some ammunition learning the grip. Every firearm on this page ships to your chosen FFL for transfer and pickup.
One practical point on the optic cut. Because the RMSc pocket is milled into the Derya DY9Z Purple Silver slide rather than covered by a plate, the dot sits about as low as it can and the factory irons remain visible underneath most micro sights. That co-witness is the reason to fit a dot to a carry gun rather than a reason not to: a dead battery becomes an inconvenience instead of an emergency.
