Description
The Chiappa Rhino 50DS 357 Mag Black is a 5 inch, six shot revolver built around Chiappa’s unusual bottom barrel design. Firing from the lowest chamber of the cylinder places the bore in line with your hand, which noticeably reduces muzzle flip and helps you get back on target faster with full power .357 Magnum loads.

Chiappa Rhino 50DS 357 Mag Black Overview
Most revolvers fire from the top chamber, which places the barrel well above your grip and makes the muzzle rise sharply. The Rhino flips that layout, so recoil drives more straight back into your hand. The Chiappa Rhino 50DS 357 Mag Black is a double action and single action revolver with a concealed hammer and a cocking lever, an aluminum frame with a black finish, a steel barrel and medium walnut grips. It weighs about 31.5 ounces. Sights pair a fixed fiber optic front with a fully adjustable rear, and the hexagonal cylinder gives the Rhino its distinctive profile.
Moon Clips Included
Chiappa includes three moon clips and a shell removing tool. Moon clips hold all six cartridges together so you can load and unload the cylinder in one motion, which speeds up reloads considerably. You can also load single rounds without clips.

.357 Magnum and .38 Special
The Rhino is chambered in .357 Magnum and also fires .38 Special. Lighter .38 Special loads are ideal for practice and new shooters, while .357 Magnum delivers more power for defense or hunting small game. The low bore axis makes magnum loads more manageable than in many revolvers of similar weight.
5 Inch Barrel
A 5 inch barrel gives a longer sight radius than snub or 3 inch models, which helps accuracy at the range and in the field. It also adds a bit of velocity. The tradeoff is size: this model is better suited to the range, home defense or open carry than deep concealment.
Trigger and Controls
The double action pull is smooth by revolver standards, and you can cock the hammer for a lighter single action shot. The cocking lever and concealed hammer take some getting used to if you are coming from a traditional revolver, so spend time dry firing with snap caps.
Things to Consider
The Rhino’s unique design means holsters and speed loaders must be specific to the model. Chiappa lists this revolver as not for sale to California. It is a premium, distinctive revolver with a loyal following and a look unlike anything else.
State Laws
