Charter Arms Pitbull 9mm Revolver 4in – Reliable 9mm Revolver

Description

The Charter Arms Pitbull 9mm Revolver 4in (Charter Arms Pitbull Large 9mm, model 79942) is a five shot 9mm double action revolver with a 4.2 inch barrel, matte stainless steel construction and black finger grooved rubber grips. Like every Pitbull, it fires rimless 9mm Luger ammunition without the need for moon clips.

Charter Arms Pitbull 9mm Revolver 4in Overview

Charter Arms designed the Pitbull to solve the biggest problem with rimless cartridges in a revolver. Its patented extraction system uses spring loaded extractor tabs that grip the extractor groove of each 9mm case, so you load, fire and eject like a normal revolver with no moon clips to buy, load or lose. 2 inch barrel gives a longer sight radius and more velocity than a snub nose, which makes this Pitbull a comfortable range and trail gun as well as a capable home defense revolver.

The barrel, cylinder and frame are matte stainless steel for corrosion resistance, the five round cylinder keeps the gun trim, and the black finger grooved rubber grips soak up recoil. The double action trigger lets you fire with a long pull, or cock the hammer for a lighter single action shot. Charter Arms revolvers are made in the USA.

Why a 9mm Revolver

9mm Luger is affordable, widely available and offers a large selection of defensive loads. Pairing it with a simple, reliable revolver means you can carry or practice with the same ammunition you use in many semi-automatic pistols.

No Moon Clips Needed

The Pitbull patented extractor holds rimless 9mm cases securely and pushes them out when you press the ejector rod. That makes loading faster and simpler than clip-based designs, especially for new shooters.

Care and Practice

Clean the cylinder chambers and barrel after shooting, keep the extractor area free of debris and lightly oil the action. Practice both double action and single action shooting to get the most from your revolver.

Practice and Training

Regular practice builds confidence and safe handling. Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and work back as your groups tighten. Dry fire with snap caps at home to improve your trigger control between range trips.

Choosing Ammunition

Try several brands and bullet weights to see what feeds reliably and groups best in your handgun. Use quality full metal jacket loads for practice and proven hollow points for defense, and confirm reliable function with your defensive load before carrying it.

Care and Maintenance

Clean the barrel, slide or cylinder and frame after shooting, apply a light coat of quality lubricant to moving parts, and store the handgun unloaded in a locked case or safe away from children.

Safe Storage

Store handguns unloaded in a locked safe, lockbox or with a cable lock, and keep ammunition separate when children are in the home. Quick access safes keep a defensive handgun secure but available. Teach everyone in the household basic firearm safety rules.

Recommended Accessories

A quality holster, spare magazines, eye and ear protection and a cleaning kit round out any handgun purchase. For defensive use, add a weapon light and practice drawing safely from your holster with an unloaded gun before carrying.
