Description
The Buffalo Bore 308 Win 180gr Supercharged is designed as an affordable do-all load for North American big game. Buffalo Bore pairs a Sierra 180 grain spitzer flat base bullet with a supercharged powder charge and rates it at 2,650 fps, noting a real-world 2,710 fps from a Kimber 84 Montana with a 22 inch barrel. Each box holds 20 rounds.
What Makes the Buffalo Bore 308 Win 180gr Supercharged Different
Most factory 308 loads with 180 grain bullets run noticeably slower than lighter bullets. Buffalo Bore loads this one to extract more velocity, which flattens trajectory and adds energy at typical hunting distances. The company states it is designed for use in all 308 Winchester rifles in normal operating condition.
The bullet is a Sierra 180 grain spitzer with conventional cup and core construction, not a bonded premium bullet. Buffalo Bore notes that at impact velocities of about 2,750 fps and below, this bullet mushrooms well and holds together, even on large shoulder bones, and reports never recovering one after taking numerous black bears.
Buffalo Bore also emphasizes realistic velocity testing from standard sporting rifles rather than long laboratory barrels, so the published numbers reflect what hunters are likely to see in the field.
Hunting With the Buffalo Bore 308 Win 180gr Supercharged
As 308 big game ammo, this heavy bullet is well suited to deer, black bear and elk at sensible ranges. Buffalo Bore offers specific guidance for the largest animals: when hunting Alaska or Yukon moose with this load, stick to broadside double-lung or central nervous system shots, and use its Item 39B for bad angles on very large game.
A black bear hunting load needs penetration and reliable expansion, and this Sierra 180 grain spitzer has a long track record on bears according to Buffalo Bore. Shot placement still matters most.
Expect more recoil than lighter 150 or 165 grain loads. Zero with this exact ammunition, since heavier, faster loads often shift point of impact compared with standard hunting ammo.

Consider the limits: a conventional bullet is not ideal for raking shots on the heaviest game, and supercharged loads recoil more. Check state regulations too, since some areas require lead-free ammunition.
