Description
The Browning X-Bolt Pro LR 6.5 Creedmoor is Browning’s long range build of the X-Bolt Pro, and every choice on it points the same direction: put a heavy, accurate barrel out front, then claw the weight back everywhere else. The result is a rifle with a 26 inch heavy sporter barrel that still carries at six pounds twelve ounces, because the stock is carbon fiber and the bolt and barrel are fluted.
Browning X-Bolt Pro LR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel and Muzzle
The barrel measures 26 inches in a heavy sporter contour with skip fluting, a pattern that removes metal in staggered sections so the tube keeps most of its rigidity while shedding ounces and gaining cooling surface. Twist is a fast one in seven, which is what lets this rifle stabilize the long, heavy 6.5 Creedmoor bullets that make the cartridge worth shooting past five hundred yards in the first place.
The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and ships with Browning’s Recoil Hawg brake installed plus a thread protector in the box, so the rifle can run braked, suppressed or bare without a gunsmith. Barrel and action both wear Carbon Gray Cerakote Elite, a finish rated for the abrasion and salt exposure a hunting rifle actually sees rather than the salt spray a spec sheet describes.
Stock, Action and Trigger
The stock is carbon fiber in a natural finish with textured grip panels at the wrist and forend. Carbon fiber is what makes the weight figure possible, and it does something a synthetic stock cannot: it holds its shape and its zero across temperature and humidity swings, which is the difference between a rifle that prints where it did last week and one that needs a confirmation shot every trip.
The action is Browning’s short action X-Bolt with a spiral fluted bolt and a 60 degree lift for scope clearance. The rotary magazine holds four rounds and drops free. Up top the receiver uses the X-Lock scope mount system, four screws per base instead of two, which removes the mount as a variable when a rifle will not hold zero. The trigger is the three lever Feather Trigger with a gold plated alloy sear, adjustable and free of the creep that plagues most factory hunting triggers.

Why Buyers Choose the Browning X-Bolt Pro LR 6.5 Creedmoor
Long range rifles usually make the buyer pick between accuracy and portability. A heavy barrel and a chassis stock shoot beautifully and punish the person carrying them; a mountain rifle carries easily and heats up after three shots. This one lands between the two by spending the weight budget on the barrel and saving it on the stock. Six pounds twelve ounces with a 26 inch heavy barrel is a genuinely unusual number.
The fast twist deserves a mention of its own. Plenty of 6.5 Creedmoor rifles ship with a one in eight barrel, which handles 140 grain bullets fine but leaves the heaviest, highest ballistic coefficient projectiles marginal. A one in seven twist opens the whole ammunition catalog, and that matters most exactly where this rifle is meant to be used.
Who Should Buy It
The Browning X-Bolt Pro LR 6.5 Creedmoor suits the hunter who walks in to their glassing position and then wants to make a precise shot at distance, the shooter who competes in hunter class matches where weight limits apply, and anyone who has been carrying a heavy long range rifle and has decided that stops now. It is also a strong choice for a suppressor owner, since the threads and thread protector are already there.
