Description
The Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long Action is Browning’s own one-piece optic base for long-action X-Bolt rifles. It replaces the factory two-piece bases with a single aluminum Picatinny rail that has 20 MOA of forward cant machined in, so you get more usable elevation from your scope before you run out of turret. Browning part number 12522 (Browning 12522 in the catalog), sold as an X-Bolt Picatinny rail.

What the Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long Does
A 20 MOA cant tilts the scope slightly nose-down relative to the bore. When you zero at 100 yards, the erector starts lower in its travel, which leaves more of the turret’s up-elevation available for long shots. For most hunting distances a flat base is fine, but if you dial for 500 yards and beyond, a Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long is the cheapest way to buy back elevation without shimming rings or switching to a higher-adjustment scope.
Because it is a single Picatinny rail, the Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long also lets you move your rings fore and aft to set eye relief, and it accepts any standard Picatinny or Weaver-style rings. Rings are not included.

Fitment: Short Action vs Long Action
Browning makes this rail in both lengths, and they are not interchangeable. This listing is the long action version. If your X-Bolt is chambered in a short-action cartridge, you need the short action Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA rail instead. Check the barrel stamp or your owner’s manual before ordering; if you are unsure, call us with the rifle’s model and caliber and we will confirm fit before it ships.
Installing the Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long
Remove the factory bases, degrease the receiver holes and the screws, and set the Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long in place with the cant sloping toward the muzzle. Use a drop of blue (removable) thread locker and tighten the screws evenly to the torque in Browning’s instructions, usually in the 15 to 25 inch-pound range for base screws. Over-tightening can strip the receiver threads, so a small torque driver is worth the money. Once the rail is on, mount your rings, level the reticle, and confirm the screws again after the first range trip.
Who Should Buy This Rail
The Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long makes the most sense for X-Bolt owners who shoot steel at distance, hunt open country where 400-plus-yard shots are realistic, or run a scope with limited internal adjustment. If you never shoot past 300 yards, a flat base or the factory setup will serve you just as well, and you should save the money for ammunition. One honest caveat: a 20 MOA base can bottom out a scope with very little down-travel when you try to zero at 25 yards, so zero at 100 yards.
Choosing Rings for the Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long
Any quality Picatinny ring set clamps to the Browning X-Bolt 20 MOA Rail Long. Pick a ring height that clears the objective bell and the X-Bolt’s bolt handle; on most 40mm to 50mm scopes that means medium or high rings. Steel or 7075 aluminum rings with at least four cross-slots of contact hold zero best under recoil. This X-Bolt scope base works with one-piece cantilever mounts too, which can help on short scopes where eye relief is tight. If you are choosing between a 20 MOA Picatinny rail and canted rings, the rail is simpler, keeps both rings in line, and is easier to level.
