Description
The Browning X-Bolt 2 Pro SPR 7mm PRC is the Browning X-Bolt 2 Pro SPR in 7mm PRC, a premium lightweight hunting rifle with a carbon fiber stock, an adjustable comb and a shorter spiral fluted barrel threaded 5/8-24 for a suppressor. This listing is UPC 023614862734, Browning item 036042298. It is a long action rifle with a 20 inch barrel that weighs about 6 lb 2 oz, measures 40 3/4 in. overall and holds 3 rounds in a detachable rotary magazine.
Browning X-Bolt 2 Pro SPR 7mm PRC Overview
The X-Bolt 2 Pro is built around a new Pro receiver, a spiral fluted bolt and an aluminum bolt handle, all aimed at cutting weight without giving up accuracy. SPR stands for suppressor ready: Browning shortened and fluted the barrel so the rifle stays light and balanced with a can on the muzzle.
Carbon Fiber Stock with Adjustable Comb
The carbon fiber stock is light and stiff, and the adjustable comb lets you line your eye up behind a large scope. Browning lists a 13 5/8 inch length of pull, an Inflex 1.25 recoil pad, textured grip panels and two QD sling cups plus a Picatinny rail stud for a bipod.
Spiral Fluted Barrel and Threads
The 20 inch steel barrel has spiral flutes to save weight and a 1:8 twist. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24, and Browning includes a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake. Brakes are loud, so always wear hearing protection.
About Suppressors
A suppressor is an NFA item. It requires an approved ATF Form 4 and registration, wait times vary, and some states do not allow them at all. MAG5 does not sell NFA items, and no suppressor is included.
Pro Receiver and Bolt
The Pro receiver, spiral fluted bolt and aluminum bolt handle trim weight from the action, and the bolt slide wears Carbon Gray Cerakote. The adjustable trigger, top tang safety and bolt unlock button carry over from the rest of the X-Bolt 2 line.
The 7mm PRC Cartridge
The 7mm PRC uses long, high ballistic coefficient bullets for flat trajectories and strong energy at distance, a modern choice for elk and mule deer hunters. Our original listing title said 22 inches; Browning lists a 20 inch barrel for this caliber.
Mounting a Scope
The X-Bolt family uses its own scope mounting pattern, so buy bases or rings made for the X-Bolt rather than Remington 700 style bases.
Cleaning and Care
Clean the bore after each range session and remove the brake occasionally to clean the threads. Wipe the rifle down after a wet hunt.
State Laws
Bolt action rifles are legal in most places, but hunting rules on calibers, seasons and suppressor use vary. Check your state game laws. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
