Description
The Browning X-Bolt 2 McMillan 6.5 PRC is the Browning X-Bolt 2 Pro McMillan Carbon Fiber in 6.5 PRC, a premium lightweight hunting rifle built on the stainless X-Bolt 2 Pro action. It pairs a 24 inch carbon fiber wrapped stainless barrel with a McMillan Game Warden 2.0 carbon fiber stock in Urban Carbon Ambush, Carbon Gray Cerakote metalwork, a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and a thread protector. This listing is UPC 023614861515, Browning item 036037294. It is a short action rifle that weighs about 6 lb 10 oz and holds 3 rounds in a detachable rotary magazine.
Browning X-Bolt 2 McMillan 6.5 PRC Overview
The X-Bolt 2 is the newest version of the Browning flagship bolt action, and the Pro McMillan sits near the top of the line. It is built for hunters who climb for their animals and want a rifle that carries light but shoots like a heavier gun.
McMillan Game Warden 2.0 Stock
McMillan makes some of the most respected hand laid fiberglass and carbon stocks in the industry. The Game Warden 2.0 has a vertical style grip, a comb shaped for a scope and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Browning lists a 13 5/8 inch length of pull. Unlike the Vari-Tech stock on the Speed models, this stock is not adjustable, so try the fit if you can.
Carbon Fiber Wrapped Barrel
Browning wraps a stainless steel barrel in carbon fiber to get a heavy sporter profile without the weight of solid steel. This barrel is 24 inches with a 1:7 twist. Carbon barrels shed heat well, but the wrap can be scratched by careless handling, so use a padded case.
Pro Action and Spiral Fluted Bolt
The stainless Pro action wears Carbon Gray Cerakote and has a spiral fluted bolt with a lightweight aluminum bolt handle. The adjustable DLX trigger, top tang safety and bolt unlock button carry over from the rest of the X-Bolt 2 line.
Recoil Hawg Brake and Threads
The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24. Browning includes a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and a thread protector. Brakes are loud, so wear hearing protection. You can also mount a suppressor, which is an NFA item that requires an approved ATF Form 4 and registration and is not legal in every state. MAG5 does not sell NFA items.
The 6.5 PRC Cartridge
The 6.5 PRC drives long, high ballistic coefficient bullets faster than the 6.5 Creedmoor while keeping recoil manageable, which makes it a strong choice for deer, sheep and long range shooting.
Mounting a Scope
The X-Bolt family uses its own scope mounting pattern. Browning photos show a rail on this model; confirm the mount before you buy rings, and avoid Remington 700 style bases.
Cleaning and Care
Clean the bore after each range session and remove the brake occasionally to clean the threads. Wipe the carbon wrap and stock with a soft cloth and avoid harsh solvents on them.
State Laws
Bolt action rifles are legal in most places, but hunting rules on calibers, seasons and suppressor use vary. Check your state game laws. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
