Description
The Browning Wicked Wing XD 12 GA 3.5 in BB load is built for waterfowlers who want a dependable steel shell with reach. XD stands for Extra Distance, and this 3.5 inch 12 gauge shell sends 1-1/2 oz of BB steel shot at a rated 1500 feet per second. The 3-1/2 inch shell carries a heavier 1-1/2 oz payload of large BB pellets, giving goose hunters more pellets and more energy for long passing shots. Steel is non-toxic, so this load is legal for waterfowl hunting where lead shot is prohibited.

A good waterfowl shotshell is only part of the equation. Concealment, decoy placement and calling bring birds into range, and patience on the trigger lets them commit. Waiting until birds are cupped and close gives this load its best chance to perform, and it cuts down on crippled birds that sail off out of reach.
Steel shot is harder than lead, so check that older fixed-choke barrels are rated for it before shooting. Most modern shotguns handle steel without issue, but tight chokes such as full or extra full can be damaged by large steel pellets.

Choosing the Right Steel Shot Size
Steel is lighter than lead, so waterfowlers make up for it with larger pellets and heavier payloads. BB steel is a standard size for Canada geese, and a 3-1/2 inch goose load adds extra shot to keep the pattern dense at longer distances. Each BB pellet carries enough mass to penetrate heavy feathers and bone, which is exactly what it takes to bring down big birds cleanly.
Browning has been a respected name in waterfowling for generations, and its ammunition line is built to the same standards as its shotguns. Consistent performance from box to box means you can pattern your gun once and trust the results all season.
Goose hunters who shoot a 12 gauge chambered for 3-1/2 inch shells will get the most from this load, particularly on field hunts and pass shooting where birds do not always finish close. Recoil from a 3-1/2 inch magnum shell is stout, so a gas-operated semi-auto or a good recoil pad helps. Always confirm your chamber length and choke are rated for steel, and follow all federal, state and local waterfowl regulations, including plugged-gun and shell limits.
Store shells in a dry place and keep them in the original box so the lot number stays with them. Before the season, pattern your shotgun at 30 and 40 yards with the choke you plan to hunt with. Non toxic steel shot patterns tighter than lead of the same size, so many hunters open up one choke constriction when switching.
