Description
The Browning TSS Turkey 12 GA 3.5 in 7 load is built for turkey hunters who want the densest patterns and the most reach their shotgun can deliver. TSS stands for Tungsten Super Shot, a pellet material far denser than lead. Because each tiny pellet carries as much or more energy than a much larger lead pellet, Browning can load small #7 shot and still get deep penetration on a gobbler’s head and neck. This 3.5 inch 12 gauge shell carries 2-1/4 oz of TSS at a rated 1200 feet per second.
Why Turkey Hunters Choose Tungsten Super Shot
- 2-1/4 oz of #7 Tungsten Super Shot
- Rated 1200 fps from a 3.5 inch 12 gauge shell
- Very dense patterns with high pellet counts
- Pellets retain energy for clean kills at extended range
- All number 7 pellets for maximum energy per hit
Browning TSS Turkey 12 GA 3.5 in 7 Features
- Small pellets mean many more hits in the kill zone
- Tungsten density delivers penetration that lead cannot match at the same size
- Best results with a dedicated TSS or turkey choke
- Packed 5 rounds per box, Browning item B193921247
Choke choice matters a great deal with TSS. Because tungsten pellets are very hard and do not deform, extremely tight lead turkey chokes can actually hurt patterns. A choke designed specifically for TSS, often slightly more open than a traditional turkey choke, usually produces the best results. Always check that your choke manufacturer approves it for tungsten shot.
A red dot or turkey scope on your shotgun helps you center the dense core of a TSS pattern on the bird, especially at longer distances where a bead alone is less precise. Take the time to zero your sight with the same shells you plan to hunt with.

How TSS Turkey Shells Change the Game
Turkey hunting comes down to putting enough pellets into a small target, the head and neck, with enough energy to penetrate. Lead forced hunters to choose between large pellets with sparse patterns or small pellets that ran out of energy. Tungsten Super Shot is roughly 22 percent denser than lead, so small pellets keep their punch, and TSS turkey shells deliver both high pellet counts and strong penetration. This number 7 TSS load uses a single pellet size, giving each hit a bit more energy than a number 9 pellet while still producing a very dense pattern.
TSS shells cost more than lead or copper-plated loads, which is why they come five to a box. Most hunters only need a few for the season, so the price per bird is reasonable. Browning has been a respected name in turkey hunting for generations, and its TSS loads are built to the same standards as its shotguns.
Turkey hunters who shoot a 12 gauge chambered for 3-1/2 inch shells and want a number 7 TSS load for longer shots will get the most from this shell. Recoil from a heavy 3-1/2 inch payload is significant, so a good recoil pad helps. Pattern your gun with this load and your turkey choke before the season, and follow all federal, state and local hunting regulations.
Store shells in a dry place in the original box so the lot number stays with them. Pattern your shotgun at 20, 30 and 40 yards on a turkey target to see how many pellets reach the head and neck, and to confirm where your sights or optic place the center of the pattern.
