The Maxus II is Browning’s flagship gas-operated semi-auto, known for soft-shooting comfort and a long list of shooter-friendly features. The camo version adds full Mossy Oak Shadow Grass coverage, rubber overmolding on the stock and forearm for a secure grip in rain and snow, and extended knurled choke tubes. The composite stock can even be trimmed and adjusts for cast, drop, and length of pull with shims.
Gas System and Recoil
The Power Drive gas system vents excess gas to reduce felt recoil while cycling light and heavy loads alike. Paired with the Inflex II recoil pad and a SoftFlex cheek pad, the Maxus II is one of the softest-shooting 3.5-inch 12 gauges you can buy. Keep the piston and gas ports clean for best reliability, especially after muddy hunts.
Trigger and Controls
The Lightning Trigger is crisp with a quick reset. Oversized bolt handle and bolt release buttons work easily with gloves, and the ramped trigger guard helps guide your finger safely. The magazine cut-off lets you swap the chambered shell without cycling the magazine, handy when a goose shows up while you have a duck load chambered.
Loading and Magazine
Speed Load Plus sends the first shell loaded into the magazine straight to the chamber. The TurnKey magazine plug comes out without taking the forend off, and the screw-on magazine cap and lightweight tube round out the system. Capacity is four 2 3/4-inch shells.
Barrel and Chokes
The back-bored barrel has a chromed chamber and bore for smoother patterns and easier cleaning. Three extended, knurled Invector-Plus chokes in Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder come with the gun, and a fiber-optic front sight with ivory mid-bead gives a fast sight picture. The gun shoots a flat 50/50 point of impact.
Built for Weather
Full camo coverage protects the gun from scratches and corrosion, and Nickel Teflon coating on internal parts reduces friction. After hunting salt or brackish water, rinse with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
Waterfowl Notes
