Browning Maxus II Bottomland 26 Inch Overview
The Maxus II is the gas operated waterfowl and turkey gun in the Browning line, and it is known for soft recoil and reliable cycling with everything from light 2 3/4 inch loads to heavy 3 1/2 inch magnums. The camo version covers the entire gun in pattern so it disappears in a blind or against a tree.
Gas Operation and Soft Recoil
A gas system bleeds off some of the energy from each shot to cycle the action, which spreads recoil out over a longer time and makes the gun feel softer than an inertia gun of the same weight. That matters when you are shooting 3 1/2 inch steel at geese or heavy turkey loads.
Composite Stock, SoftFlex and Inflex
The composite stock has a SoftFlex cheek pad and an Inflex 2 recoil pad, which is designed to pull the comb down and away from your face under recoil. Oversized controls are easy to work with cold hands or gloves.
Full Coverage Camo
Every exterior surface is dipped in Mossy Oak Bottomland, so there is no shiny metal to catch a bird eye. Treat the finish with care, since hydrographic camo can wear at contact points over years of hard use.
Barrel, Sights and Chokes
The 26 inch barrel has a fiber optic front sight and takes extended Invector-Plus chokes. Browning includes Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder.
3 1/2 Inch Shells
The 3 1/2 inch chamber handles the heaviest goose and turkey loads, but those shells kick hard. Many hunters use 3 inch loads for ducks and keep the 3 1/2 inch shells for geese and turkeys.
Waterfowl Plug
Federal law limits migratory bird hunting to three shells total, so install the magazine plug before you hunt ducks, geese or doves. Check your state rules as well.
Cleaning and Care
Gas guns need their gas system cleaned regularly to keep cycling reliably. Wipe the gun down after a wet hunt, and clean the choke threads so the tubes do not seize.
State Laws
Shotguns are legal to buy in most places, but hunting rules vary by state and species. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
