Description
The Browning Buck Mark Hunter is a 22 LR semi auto pistol from the Browning Buck Mark family with a 7 1/4 inch heavy tapered round bull barrel and Ultragrip RX ambidextrous overmolded grips. Browning Buck Mark Hunter Overview
The Buck Mark has been the Browning 22 pistol since 1985 and is one of the best selling rimfire handguns in America. Every version shares a one piece machined aluminum receiver, a straight blowback action and a crisp single action trigger, which is why you see Buck Marks at bullseye matches as often as in tackle boxes and truck consoles. The Hunter uses a long, heavy round barrel and target style grips for steady holds and long range plinking.
Barrel
The 7 1/4 inch barrel is a heavy tapered round bull barrel with a matte blued finish. The rear sight and any optic sit on the fixed top rib rather than on a moving slide, so they stay put shot after shot, one reason the Buck Mark is so accurate.
Sights
Browning lists the front sight as TruGlo Fiber Optic and the rear sight as Pro-Target, with a sight radius of 9 3/4 inches. The rear sight adjusts so you can zero for your favorite ammunition. Fiber optic and adjustable sights make the Buck Mark easy to shoot well, even for new shooters.
Grips
This model wears Ultragrip RX ambidextrous overmolded grips. The grip angle feels natural in most hands, and plenty of aftermarket grips fit if you want to change the look or feel later.
Blowback Action and Single Action Trigger
The Buck Mark uses a simple straight blowback action, with no locking parts, which suits the low pressure 22 LR. The single action trigger breaks cleanly with little creep and resets quickly. A manual thumb safety sits at the rear of the frame.
Magazine
The single stack magazine holds 10 rounds of 22 LR. Spare Buck Mark magazines are easy to find, and two or three extras make range days more fun.
Key Features
Browning highlights these features: alloy receiver with matte blued finish, heavy tapered round bull barrel, integral scope base, pro-Target adjustable rear sight.
Where the Buck Mark Fits
A Buck Mark is a natural first pistol, a plinker for the range, a trail gun for small game and a training tool for new shooters. 22 LR is cheap, quiet and has almost no recoil, so you can shoot a lot and build good habits.
Ammunition
Most Buck Marks run best on high velocity 36 to 40 grain round nose ammunition. Standard velocity loads are quieter and often more accurate but may not cycle every pistol, so try a few brands.
Cleaning
A bore snake from the muzzle handles routine cleaning. Full takedown means removing the top rib screws, so follow the owner manual and keep track of each screw. Rimfire ammunition is dirty, so clean the breech face and chamber area often to keep it reliable.
State Laws
Handgun rules vary by state, including approved rosters and magazine limits. We can only ship to an FFL where this pistol is legal to sell. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
