Browning BAR MK 4 Speed OVIX 308 22 Overview
The BAR is the Browning semi-auto hunting rifle, with a gas operated action and a rotating bolt that locks into the barrel extension. It shoots full power hunting cartridges with less felt recoil than a bolt gun and allows fast follow up shots. This version is the BAR MK 4 Speed.
Barrel and Accuracy
The 22 inch barrel has a sporter contour and a 1 in 12 inch twist. The gas operated action with a rotating bolt gives fast follow up shots with less felt recoil.
Action and Trigger
The BAR uses a rotary bolt that locks directly into the barrel for strength and accuracy, and a gas system that softens recoil. The trigger is crisp for a semi-auto and the crossbolt safety is easy to reach.
Stock and Fit
The composite stock has a ovix finish. Browning lists a 14 3/8 inch length of pull and a Inflex 2 recoil pad.
Key Features
Browning highlights these features: gas piston operation; detachable Box Magazine; strong action bar/inertia block link-up reduces barrel vibration to improve accuracy; integral buffering system reduces wear and stress on the rifle’s operating system.
The 308 Win
The 308 Win is a proven hunting cartridge. Match your bullet weight and construction to the game you hunt, and practice at the distances you expect to shoot.
Deer Hunting and More
This rifle is well suited to deer hunting and, depending on caliber, to hogs, pronghorn, elk and other game. Mount a quality scope and confirm your zero before the season.
Buying Tips
Before you buy, pick the caliber that fits the game and distances you hunt, and budget for a quality scope, rings and ammo. Sight in at 100 yards, then confirm your drop at the longest distance you plan to shoot.
Care and Value
Wipe the metal down after wet hunts, clean the bore regularly and store the rifle in a dry place. Browning rifles hold their value well.
State Laws
Rifles are legal to own in every state, though some limit semi-auto rifles, magazine capacity and hunting calibers. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
