Description
The Browning BAR MK 4 Hunter Composite 30-06 is a rifle chambered in 30-06 Springfield with a 22-inch barrel and a 4+1 capacity. Browning lists it as item number 039007226.
Browning BAR MK 4 Hunter Composite 30-06 Overview
The BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) is a gas-operated semi-automatic hunting rifle with a rotary bolt and a detachable box magazine. It is known for soft-shooting, fast follow-up shots and the accuracy hunters expect from a bolt gun.
Design and Features
This BAR MK 4 Hunter Composite features a matte black barrel finish, a Matte Black composite stock, an Inflex 2 recoil pad, and overmolded grip panels. The barrel has a 1:10-inch twist. Magazine capacity is 4. It weighs 7 lbs 2 oz and measures 44 1/8″ overall. Length of pull is 14 3/8″.
Handling in the Field
It shoulders comfortably and balances well, so it carries easily in the field and settles quickly for the shot.
Action and Trigger
The gas system softens recoil and cycles reliably, and the trigger is crisp for a semi-auto. Fast follow-up shots are a real advantage on running game.
Sights and Optics
Mount the optic of your choice with quality rings or a mount, and zero it with the load you plan to use.
The 30-06 Springfield Cartridge
The 30-06 Springfield is one of the most versatile hunting cartridges ever made, with loads for everything from deer to elk.
Setup and Accessories
Start with a quality optic and solid rings or a mount, then add a sling for carrying and a bipod or shooting bag for steady rests. Test a few loads for accuracy and settle on the one your rifle likes best. A hard case protects your investment on the way to the range or the field.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the rifle and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the bolt face and chamber. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
