Description
The Browning 1911-22 Laminate Full Size is the Browning 1911-22 Black Label Laminate Full Size, a 22 LR pistol with a 4 1/4 inch barrel, a matte black slide and black laminated and stippled grips. This listing is UPC 023614042389, Browning item 051814490. It weighs about 14 oz and holds 10 rounds in a single stack magazine.
Browning 1911-22 Laminate Full Size Overview
The Browning 1911-22 is built at 85 percent of the size of the original Model 1911, so it has the look, controls and manual of arms of a classic 1911 in a smaller, lighter package. It fires inexpensive 22 LR, which makes it a great way to learn 1911 handling and to practice for a fraction of the cost of centerfire ammo.
Black Label Features
The Black Label models use a lightweight polymer frame with black laminated and stippled grip panels, a checkered front strap, a commander style hammer, a beavertail grip safety and an extended slide release. Those upgrades make the pistol feel more like a modern custom 1911.
Laminated and Stippled Grips
The laminated wood grip panels are stippled for traction, and the checkered front strap keeps the pistol from shifting in your hand during fast strings of fire. The dark laminate looks good and resists moisture better than plain wood.
Sights and Shooting
Browning fits fixed A1 style sights with a 5 3/8 inch sight radius. The single action trigger and very light recoil make it easy to shoot small groups, and it is a good pistol for new shooters as well as experienced 1911 fans.
85 Percent Scale
Because the frame and slide are scaled down, the grip fits smaller hands well. Standard 1911 holsters and magazines will not fit, so buy holsters and spare magazines made specifically for the 1911-22.
Accessories and Upgrades
Browning and several aftermarket makers offer holsters, spare magazines and grip panels sized for these smaller pistols. A second or third magazine is worth buying right away, since it makes range sessions more fun and lets you practice reloads. Many owners also add a small cleaning kit and a lockable case, which some states require for transport.
Ammunition and Reliability
Rimfire pistols are pickier about ammo than centerfire guns. Most owners get the best function with quality 40 grain round nose 22 LR. Keep the gun clean and lightly lubricated, since rimfire fouling builds up fast.
State Laws
Some states limit which handguns can be sold, restrict magazine capacity or limit features. Check your state law before you order. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
