Browning 1911-22 BL Full Size Cerakote Overview
The 1911-22 is a rimfire pistol built to 85 percent of the size of the classic 1911, with the same controls, grip angle and single action feel. It lets you practice 1911 handling for the price of 22 LR ammo, and it is light and easy for new shooters. This version is the 1911-22 Black Label Full Size.
Frame, Slide and Finish
This pistol has a matte finish on the frame and a matte finish on the barrel. The controls sit where 1911 shooters expect them, with a thumb safety, grip safety and slide stop.
Barrel and Sights
The 4 1/4 inch barrel gives a 5 3/8 inch sight radius. It wears a fiber optic front sight and a combat fiber optic rear sight. Rimfire pistols can be picky about ammo, so try a few high velocity round nose loads to find what your pistol likes best.
Magazine and Capacity
The pistol holds 10 rounds in the magazine. Load rimfire magazines carefully so each rim sits ahead of the one below it, which prevents feeding problems. Some states limit magazine capacity, so check your local law.
Key Features
Browning highlights these features: machined aluminum alloy slide with Cerakote; finishes; composite frame with machined 7075 aluminum sub-frame; 4-1/4″ barrel; steel 3-Dot sights; black, stippled laminated wood grips with Buckmark logo; extended ambidextrous manual thumb safety; extended slide release.
The 22 LR
The 22 LR is cheap, quiet and has almost no recoil, which makes it the best round for practice, new shooters and plinking. It is not a defensive caliber.
Uses
This pistol is ideal for target practice, informal matches, small game where legal and for teaching new shooters the basics of safe handling.
Buying Tips
Before you buy, think about how you will use the pistol. A full size model is easier to shoot well and has a longer sight radius, while a compact model is easier to carry and store. Pick up extra magazines, a good holster or range bag and plenty of ammo, and plan time at the range to learn the trigger and controls. If you are new to handguns, a basic safety class is a smart first step.
Care
Clean the pistol after each range trip, since rimfire ammo leaves a lot of fouling. Keep the slide rails lightly oiled and wipe the finish after handling.
State Laws
Handgun transfers require a dealer background check, and some states have handgun rosters or permit rules. Buyers must be 21 or older to buy a handgun from a dealer. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
