Description
The Bond Arms XLV Rough 45 Colt 410 is a two-shot stainless steel derringer with a flat-sided 4.25 inch double barrel, a bead-blasted Rough Series finish and Bond’s B6 grips. It fires 45 Colt cartridges or 410 shotshells.

Bond Arms XLV Rough 45 Colt 410 Overview
Bond Arms says the XLV takes the Snake Slayer IV, with its solid frame and 45 Colt/410 power, and adds a flat-sided barrel ready for custom engraving plus B6 grips with a smooth backstrap. It is the production version of Bond’s limited Living Legend pistol without the special engraving. Bond lists a 6.75 inch length, 4.31 inch height, 25.6 ounce weight, fixed sights, a trigger guard, a 7 pound single action trigger, a cross-bolt safety and a rebounding hammer.
Two Shots, Two Loads
Many owners load a 410 shotshell in one barrel for snakes and close pests, and a 45 Colt in the other. The 410 pattern from a short barrel opens quickly, so it is a short-range tool. 45 Colt from a 4.25 inch barrel is a serious cartridge, but heavy 45 Colt loads in a 25 ounce derringer recoil sharply. Check the barrel marking for the maximum 410 shell length.

No Extractor
Bond notes there is no extractor on the XLV barrel. You tip the barrels up and remove spent cases by hand or with a small tool, which is slower than a revolver. Plan reloads accordingly and practice them.
Engraving Ready
The flat barrel sides are made for personal engraving, and Bond suggests a local engraver since it does not offer the service. A custom design turns the XLV into a one-off keepsake. Engraving should be done before heavy use so the finish stays even.

Safety and Carry
Bond derringers use a cross-bolt safety and rebounding hammer, and you cock the hammer for each shot. That manual cycle makes them deliberate, not fast. They carry well in a belt holster or ranch truck, but are not a substitute for a modern defensive pistol with more capacity.
Interchangeable Barrels
Bond barrels generally swap between Bond frames, so you can add other calibers later. Barrels are sold separately, and fit should be checked with Bond guidance before buying.
State Laws and Ownership
Derringers firing 410 shotshells can raise questions in some states, and several states maintain handgun rosters that may not list this model. Pennsylvania has no handgun roster, but handgun transfers run through the PICS check. Check your state and local rules and confirm with your receiving FFL before ordering.
