Description

Commemorative firearms usually put the occasion on a box and leave the gun alone. The Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote does the opposite: the engraving is the product. The left side of the barrel carries “AMERICA 250th — LAND OF THE FREE — 1776 · 2026” in gold against black Cerakote, and the right side carries the Statue of Liberty beside a waving flag. Both sides, cut into the steel rather than printed on it.

Underneath the artwork the Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote is a standard Bond Arms Hand Cannon frame in stainless steel, Cerakoted black, with a 4.25 inch two shot barrel chambered for both .45 Colt and .410 shotshells. Twenty five and a half ounces, six and three quarter inches long, and about as simple as a firearm gets: two chambers, one hammer, one trigger.

The Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote is Bond Arms part number BA250th-BLK-45/410, MSRP $799. We are holding 193 of them, which for a commemorative run is unusually deep.

What is engraved on the Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote

  • Left side: AMERICA, a large 250th, LAND OF THE FREE, and the dates 1776 and 2026 flanking a star.
  • Right side: the Statue of Liberty with a furled American flag running the length of the barrel.
  • The engraving is filled in gold tone against the black Cerakote, which is what makes it read at arm’s length rather than needing to be held up to the light.
  • It is on the barrel, not the frame. That matters on a Bond, because Bond barrels are interchangeable: the commemorative barrel can come off and a working barrel can go on the same frame.
  • This is the black Cerakote version. Bond also builds the same commemorative in stainless, which we stock separately.

Ammunition for the Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote: read this before you buy any

Bond Arms publishes a short list of ammunition that must not be fired in the Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote, and it is not a formality. In Bond’s own words, do not chamber or fire .454 Casull, .45 +P or .45 Colt Corbon, do not use oversized copper only .45 projectiles, and do not use reloaded ammunition. Bond also names two brands to avoid outright: Herter’s and Magtech.

That last one catches people out, because both are ordinary shelf brands and nothing about a box of either says it is a problem. We do not stock either in .45 Colt, and we would not sell you one for this gun if we did.

What we would put in it is standard pressure .45 Colt from a major maker: our Remington Core-Lokt 45 Colt 237 grain JHP is exactly that, and Remington is not on Bond’s list.

On the shotshell side, Baschieri & Pellagri Golden Clays .410 in 2.5 inch works for snakes and close range pests. Check the shell length your barrel is chambered for in Bond’s manual before buying 3 inch .410, because Bond does not publish the chamber length on the product page and a 3 inch shell does not belong in a 2.5 inch chamber. A 2.5 inch shell is safe in either.

What the Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote is, and what it is not

  • It is two rounds of something substantial in a package the size of a large wallet, with no magazine, no slide and nothing to short stroke. Simplicity is the entire proposition.
  • It is not a range gun. Seven pounds of single action trigger, a fixed blade front sight and a 25 ounce frame under .45 Colt make a session of fifty rounds genuinely unpleasant.
  • Reloading means breaking the action open and replacing both rounds by hand. Plan around having two, not around having more.
  • The .410 barrel is a real advantage at very close range and a poor choice past a few yards. Understand which of the two chamberings you are actually buying the gun for.
  • Bond frames accept every Bond barrel, so this can become a .357, a 9mm or a .22 later without buying another firearm. That is the most underrated thing about the platform.

How the Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote sits beside the rest of the 250th group

  • The Bond Arms America 250th in 45-70 is the same commemorative on the big bore Cyclops frame, if you want the heavier cartridge and the single barrel.
  • The stainless version of this gun is the same engraving on a bright frame, for anyone who finds black Cerakote too sober for a commemorative.
  • Against a non commemorative Bond, you are paying for the engraving and nothing else changes mechanically. That is an honest trade and worth knowing before you decide.
  • Across our whole 250th anniversary group there are now nine products, from ammunition through to 1911s, and this is the one that most obviously reads as a keepsake.

The Bond Arms America 250th Black Cerakote is a semiquincentennial piece that is still a working firearm, built in Texas, with a lifetime warranty behind it. Specifications here come from the distributor record and from Bond Arms’ own America 250th Black Cerakote page, which is also where the ammunition restrictions above come from.

This is a serialized firearm and ships to a licensed dealer for transfer. Anniversary runs are finite by definition and 2026 only happens once, so the 193 we are holding are what there is.
