The Bond Arms 30th XL 45 Colt 410 is a commemorative two-shot derringer that marks thirty years of Bond Arms. It uses the Rough Series stainless frame with a special 3 inch barrel engraved on both sides and extended B6 resin grips, and it fires .45 Colt or .410 shotshells.
Bond Arms 30th XL 45 Colt 410 Overview
Bond Arms released the 30th and 30th XL to celebrate its anniversary and to honor the United States. The barrel engraving on our photos reads U.S.A. 249 Years Strong, Proud to be an American, and In God We Trust. The XL differs from the standard 30th only in its grips: the 30th uses thin panel grips, while the XL uses the larger B6 grips that give a fuller hold. Bond lists a 7 pound trigger, fixed sights and a trigger guard, and a distributor lists about 21.6 ounces and 5.5 inches long.
Name and Model
Our original store title called this gun a Rowdy XL with a 3.5 inch barrel. The UPC 855959007927 belongs to the 30th XL Rough Series (BA30THXL-45LC/410) with a 3 inch barrel, and every distributor we checked describes it that way, so this page follows the 30th XL specification. Shooting 45 Colt and 410
The 3 inch barrel chambers .45 Colt and 2.5 inch .410 shotshells. Many owners load a .410 defense shell in the first barrel and .45 Colt in the second. Expect heavy recoil and a loud blast with .45 Colt from a gun this small, and short effective range with .410. Never use 3 inch .410 shells in this barrel.
B6 Grips
The extended B6 resin grips fill the hand better than panel grips, which helps control recoil and makes the gun easier to aim quickly. They also add a little bulk, so the XL is better suited to a belt or inside-the-waistband holster than a pocket. Bond Arms grips swap between models if you want a different look later.
Safety and Operation
Like every Bond Arms derringer, the 30th XL is single action with a rebounding hammer, a crossbolt safety and a trigger guard. Tip the barrels up to load and extract the empty cases by hand. Two shots and a slow reload make it a backup or close-range woods gun, not a primary defensive pistol.
