Black Rain Ordnance SSP Midnight Bronze – Superb 16 in. 5.56 Rifle

Description

The Black Rain Ordnance SSP Midnight Bronze is a 5.56 NATO AR-15 built on 7075-T6 receivers and finished in Midnight Bronze Cerakote. It runs a 16 inch chrome moly barrel with an A2 flash hider, an optics ready flat top and Magpul MOE SL furniture.

Spec+ Series Construction

Black Rain machines its receivers to close tolerances from 7075-T6 aluminum, the same alloy used across the AR industry but held to tighter numbers than a bargain rifle. A tight upper to lower fit is not a marketing point; it is the difference between a rifle that feels solid in the hand and one that rattles.

Cerakote in Midnight Bronze covers the receiver set, which is more durable than anodising alone and gives the rifle a warmer, less military look than plain black.

Black Rain Ordnance SSP Midnight Bronze Barrel

The barrel is 16 inches of chrome moly steel with an A2 flash hider on the threaded muzzle. Chrome moly is the traditional AR barrel steel: durable, accurate and far cheaper to replace than stainless when a barrel eventually wears out.

Sixteen inches remains the most useful AR length. Short enough to work indoors and from a vehicle, long enough to give 5.56 full performance, and legal without any NFA paperwork.

Handguard, Optics and Furniture

The upper is a flat top with a full length Picatinny rail and no carry handle, so a red dot, magnifier or low power variable mounts directly. There is nothing to remove or work around before the rifle is usable.

Furniture is Magpul MOE SL: an adjustable stock and a matching grip, both slim, light and well proven. Both use standard interfaces if you decide to change them.

Ammunition and Practical Accuracy

Chambered for 5.56 NATO, the rifle also shoots .223 Remington safely. Bulk 55 grain ball is the cheapest practice ammunition on the market, while 62 and 69 grain loads tighten groups for anyone who wants more from the gun. With a red dot, hits on a torso target at 200 yards are routine.

Optics and Accessories

The full length Picatinny flat top takes any AR pattern mount without an adapter. M-LOK slots along the handguard mount lights, hand stops and sling attachments directly, so the rifle can be set up for home defense, training or hunting without buying rail sections.

Why Buyers Choose the Black Rain Ordnance SSP Midnight Bronze

The Black Rain Ordnance SSP Midnight Bronze is a complete, well finished carbine from a maker better known for premium billet rifles. You get the receiver quality and the Cerakote work without paying for engraving or a match barrel you may not need.

Who Should Buy It

First time AR buyers who want something a step above a base carbine, shooters building out a rifle over time, and anyone who wants a home defense or range gun in a finish other than black.

Be clear about the trade-offs. The trigger is a standard single stage unit, no sights or optic are included, and the barrel is a general purpose chrome moly rather than a match stainless. Those are the choices that keep the price sensible.
